Nothing else to say

HOT

The graphics are now quite dated. It's best played with Fakefactory's Cinematic Mod 10 Final.
If you haven't played it with this Mod before, it's well worth trying, It adds amazing graphics, effects, and music score.

There's a 32 bit and 64 bit version. Can be downloaded from Fileplanet here...

fileplanet.com/196…ete

Yes, it is 12GB!

hmm i got a laptop capable of playing this.. but im swaying towards getting it for the xbox 360... any thoughts? which version shall i get?

"The LE version, the Light Edition, does not include the HD characters, new soundtracks and gameplay changes or tweaks. This version works with a 32bit Windows, however this is untested and unsupported"

I have windows 7 32bit intel P7450 with 9600gt lappy Will this make much difference. Thanks

Wouldn't use the 64 bit HD one on a laptop. You need 4GB Ram for the this and only 64 bit windows can make use of it.

Just wish they would hurry up with the next half-life......damn cliff hangers =/

Is there any issues here with Vista?

Or is there any DRM/SecuROM stuff??

Even vanilla Half Life 2 doesn't feel particularly dated, the design and scope is so good that it hasn't aged quite like other FPS games.

Despite my admiration for this timeless classic I did install the full 64bit Cinematic Mod recently, the textures are insanely detailed and the new music score is refreshing. The only problem now is the comparatively low quality textures you end up spotting in even the latest games

Better playing on pc than xbox 360 I think.

Half Life 2 - probably my favourite game of all time!

Scorching Hot (Even at full price this is Hot!)

Get the Xbox 360 version. That way you'll actually 'own' the game and be able to sell it if you want . I hate Steam and all DRM. A disc check is acceptable anything else is not.

Best. Game. Ever.

I actually have a copy of Half Life 2 as a gift on Steam - bought HL2 then the Orange Box.

If anyone wants it, gimme a heads up

Get it on PC. This price is worth it just for TF2 and on PC this games has been updated numerous times with patches, maps, agme types & weapons and still has quite a large online community. On the xbox the games is pretty much the same as on release day with maybe just 1 update and still some bugs. And nobody plays TF2 online on xbox anymore.

plus i think you download cs source and halflife 2 deathmatch with the pc version (im not 100% but i think im right)

Very hot - Half Life is the best gaming series ever

Not sure why anyone would buy an x-box... perhaps the buy now and pay for what you need later.

Not a bad offer for PC or £12.99 on PS3 with HMV (3% topcashback/quidco)

I'm not sure about HL2:DM but for most people it is covered by owning an ATI or nVidia Graphics card (as is lost coast)
You definately don't get CS: Source.

What you do get is:
Half-life 2
Half life 2: Epsidoe 1
Half-life 2: Epsidoe 2
Portal
Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 and Portal are regulary sold by themselves on Steam for more than the price of this bundle.
TF2 has had a vast amount of ongoing support and development since its release (new maps, new gametypes, new class-specific weapons) and is an incredibly fun online experience.
Portal is the opposite of TF2 - single player, linear, deceptively simple graphics, interesting puzzles - its a beautifully crafted game and doesn't outstay its welcome. Plus it has GLaDOS (and a new ending video as of two weeks ago).
I still haven't finished HL2 - its very good but TF2 and Portal keep getting in the way.

I have the Orange box on PC, and Half Life 2 standalone on my Xbox 1. In terms of content, yes the PC version wins out. But in terms of just being able to pick up and play, the console version is much more convenient.

Hot for me (hotter than yesterdays deal!);

If I already own HL2 and then buy this, can I sell my original copy?!? (It is Steamed etc.)

You can certainly gift it to someone, not sure if the EULA allows resale.

I understand where you are coming from, but Steam is just another choice for us customers which is never a bad thing, and for me its a godsend.

Steam is a good alternative to buying the game from a shop as long as you are happy with the differences. If you want to physically own the game, box and all the gubbings that come with it, which I know many do, then steam isnt for you. However, for someone like me who loses stuff all the time, doesnt want the clutter of game boxes, and never gets round to reselling my games its advantages outweight the down sides. And, one of the best things about it, I can wipe my PC or buy a new one and just download my games again, no disks needed, great!

Ok, if they go bust, may be an issue, but again on the whole I'm someone that once I've played and completed a game it gathers dust until the end of time. So at least I wont have to throw out the boxes.

If only it was just a choice I'd have no problem with it as it suits some. The retail version just downloads the game from steam. The disc doesn't actually contain the game at all. Some choice!:x

If that's true then I agree with you, if you decide to buy the game from a shop I don't expect to get what effectively is a download link. Poor show.

Surely that's not true? Every Valve retail title I have bought installs from the disc then updates itself automatically over Steam.

I would imagine some of these updates are fairly hefty as it has been out a long time. You can of course turn them off if they bother you....

Don't lie. The disc copies the game from it into your Steam directory. If it downloaded it, there would be a lot of ****** of people around. You must have done it wrong.

The disc does copy the game as any other game would. However, if I remember rightly, the first 'update' that is required to play the game is several hundred meg, and it does feel like I'm downloading the game that I've just installed from disc. Nowadays I do just download the full version from Steam and install it that way, it's just as quick.:)

Thats because the pack has been out for quite a while, at least the updates and extra content are free for us unlike for the console junkies that don't own their hardware

You can disable it from updating and still run it by right clicking the game followed by Properties, Updates tab, and selecting 'Never keep this game up to date'

Neccesary game for anyone with a PC that can play this.

great game!, undoubtedly the best 30 hours of my gaming life
