Half Life 3 confirmed.

As if today wasn't hot enough! Have some more heat.
This represents ridiculously good value. Thanks.

You get my heat, great price! Don't forget to check out the weekly competition

Is there anyone on the planet who hasn't played this game yet?

Forget making English compulsory, it should be made mandatory to play this game

Maybe people want it for old times sake?

I love the fact that 'Freeman' posted this.

Haha yeah its my surname I had the coolest surname in college when this came out

I recommend anyone who buys this to install the Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2 it makes the game look amazing cinematicmod.com/ and getting Black Mesa a remastered version of Half Life 1.

How can it be COMPLETE when we are still waiting for Episode 3?

That looks amazing man I never heard of this!

Great games, Half Life 2 is still one of the best FPS's ever even after all these years. Brilliant collection for a brilliant price.

I have to disagree with the mod for 1st time players. The characters, particularly the female ones look like rejects from Baywatch. The females are overly sexual, why destroy one of the best characters of all time by putting her in hot pants with a short top? It ruins the essence of Half Life and City 17, the dystopia feel of the game goes with the mod. (http://kotaku.com/5978206/the-beautiful-if-misguided-crusade-to-keep-half-life-2-looking-beautiful)

Stay true to the original first play. Same for the original HL because it makes you appreciate Black Mesa so much more when you see what they've done

This is so true. The original game was so far ahead of its time. One of those key games in gaming history in my mind. Up there with the likes of Pong and Tetris. You absolutely must play this game on a modern computer maxed out settings and see just how good it was for 1997.

I'll be honest, I've still got some demo disks floating about that have the HL1 demo. I can't throw them away, despite owning the original game (twice)

Agree; one of the greatest games ever made. To appreciate how good this game is and how far ahead of its time it was, you would have to play it when it was first released.

So I have the first 15" rMBP, I use it for photoshop and web work etc not gaming, so I have no idea if it's got the minimum/recommended spec for this, it's an i7 and 8gb of ram, and I think it's got the nvidia graphics, but I'll be honest, no idea what it's gaming cajones are like - anyone know if I'd be ok with this?

I presume that's a 2008/9 MBP if it's the first generation. However, you said about an i7 so that leads me to believe it wont be that old. None the less even on the oldest MBP the older games in this list would be playable without issue. HL2 and it's expansions might require the graphics detail to be turned down.

To double check what you have simply do this and we will be able to offer a more clear indication about how the mac will perform;

Pull down the Apple menu and select “About This Mac” and now click on “More Info”
Make note of the exact Mac model and the release date, paste that information back here.

For those not in the know already...if you are a Half Life fan head over to PlanetPhilip for all the free mods you can handle and there are some very good ones indeed!

Hey, thanks for getting back to me Astec123 - it's a rMBP, as in the first retina one, so newer than 2008 for sure, in fact it says mid 2012. About this mac says :

Processor : 2.6ghz intel core i7
Memory : 8gb ddr3
It says Graphics : Intel HD 4000 but I'm pretty sure it has that AND an nvidia chip and it switches using whichever is best from a power saving / performance point of view - I could be totally wrong though

Excellent games, HL2 is definitely one of my all time favourites

Bought! Or 'brought' as some on here would like to do, lol.

That will be a GT 650M, should be reasonably playable if you are using something like parallels but it will be at lower resolutions, if you have a dual boot machine to make it run windows natively then at a lower resolution everything will play fine and quite well at that.

This page will give you an idea about your graphics card's level of performance. Take the figures listed with a pinch of salt as it's an average across all laptops tested that use the card and they don't test MBP's. However, should give you a good idea of what would be playable for you if you want to branch out.
