I have Morrisons in the City, but I hope you have more luck than the last two meat offers I went to Morrisons for :-(

It's a good price if you can get it but my advice is don't travel far

Out of all the supermarket offers, I find that Morrison's always have the best stock - I will be calling tonight heat added

Somerfield win that one by a mile, trouble is, since the Coop took over, the offers are barely worth the bother, and the rest of the prices are astronomical instead of just being plain high! :-(

loads and loads in Ipswich today and the best thing was they weren't all packaged in huge quantities. The packs went from just under £2 to about a fiver.

picked some up today, very nice looking steaks! Heat and rep added.

Morrison's meat is good quality and not inflated with water like Tesco meats.

Nice.

Isn't rump associated with sex?

i.e. I had a sex rump?

romp

I managed to get some of the steak, it looks delicious. I agree about Somerfield now it has been taken over by the Co-Op, you can always tell when there is a special offer at the Co-Op....there is an empty space on the shelf and you can tell when there is a BOGOF deal.....there is one on the shelf!

morrisons usually have loads of stock in ........they cut it up in store and pack it not like most supermarkets pre packed stuff

While I too prefer Morrisons for meat, Tesco meat is NOT inflated with water, this is rubbish, as well as being illegal.

Stop talking crap.

Good price, but it's never half price - there's no way Rump is normally over £11 a kilo.

Not commenting on tesco, but inflating with water is, unfortuantely, not illegal... and is in fact quite common.

Actually Braising steak is more than this too... so much so, it is often far cheaper to buy special offer topside or silverside joints to use as braising steak! They are much more often available as special offers. Tends to be a bit pale in colour, and "pale" in flavour too though :-(

Dunno, but up here braising is only about £8/Kg

Well yes, here too... but Topside/Silverside joints are on offer at various supermarkets more than any other beef, and I have had them as low priced as £4.50 to £5.50 /kg in the not too distant past. Now, as they are a far from brilliant as a roasting joint, they will make a passable braised meat, if a little less flavoursome than most forequarter beef would.

I had never thought of using Top/Silverside that way, until discussing meat prices with an Indian restaurant owner who mentioned that was what they usually used, as it is so lean!

I'd recommend you try Shin of Beef if you like making stews - it's about £6/Kg (regular price) and is melt in your mouth after a few hours stewing, plus you won't have to hacksaw through the joints of silverside.

Shin is a much better flavour, agreed... WHEN you can get it, as it has become a bit trendy, like Lamb shanks! Needs a long time cooking though, Although no problems getting through Silverside... and it is cooked tender a bit quicker. As it is blander, only really suitable for curry or other strongly flavoured dishes!

got some tonight will try for dinner with chips, will it be chips chips glorious chips.:-D

Had some of this tonight, absolutely gorgeous - going back to get some tomorrow if still on offer!

Out of stock in Crowborough and Seaford stores before midday. Sham offer to get customers into the store. Voted cold, price may as well be at 1p if out of stock.

Erm, Tv adverts, in my local paper and on huge canvas banners outside their shops.

now £7.81 half price, was £15.62 a kilo, 5 years on! Prices never go down.
