It’s still available on the 3 website via the deal posted 8 days ago which seems to make this redundant unless I’m missing something!

5gb how much is that in mb?

yes you can on the link the last number is 4 if you change this number to either 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 these are the different modems

is this for existing customers or for new customers

So via the link on this post if your an existing 3 customer for a phone and get rid of it does anyone know if you keep the £7.50 price? Im assuming you will but confirmation would be good as another poster earlier said if you had an existing phone it goes back to £15 if you get rid of the phone.

Also anyone know if recommend a friend works on mobile bb via this offer?

My stance on this would be to go for voda mobile BB - ok it's 12 months but for me i reckon that tech speed may have moved on in 12 months as opposed to having an extra 6 months left after that with three.

Voda gives you a better speed (upto 7.2 I think?) and you can use it in a 2G area?

15x12 - £180

£90 quidco

could leave you with 3GB mobile BB for 12 months, with faster speeds for £7.50/month effective.

Just my opinion.

im a new customer and got confirmation email stating £7.50 per month going thru ops link

dont forget quidco as well,,£12.50 tracked

Awesone deal, 5GB for £7.50 a month!!

Thanks OP ;-) Hot Hot Hot !

Do a google search before you go for this. Its cheap but lots of people who have had 3 broadband say the service received was not worth paying anything for. There are lots of unhappy 3 broadband users around.

Finally you clarify why this deal is different; we got there in the end.

This made me giggle...

ZTE USB ModemNo wires, no hassles

And further down...

Whats in the box * USB Data Modem * USB cable

Read as much as you can about 3 mobile broadband before signing up.

This is a good deal only if it's a good reliable service. It's a long lousy 18/24 months or whatever if it isn't.

I personally am wary of long contracts as service can often go from good to poor very quickly.

Im on the older half price deal which only has 3gb usage but i only use it at work during breaks or on holiday so its plenty enough i also get at least 1.5mbps download which handles slingbox stuff ok and is plenty fast enough for web pages i wouldn't use it for downloading as i have 20mg connection at home to use for that.

Where do you get alternative software  ive got the
ZTE MF622 which works ok but i wouldn't turn down extra download speed if possible :whistling:

Hi,

what software do you use?

Cheers

Its a thing called "Windows"

LOL

Load your Three software as usual but dont connect, then make a connection in Network connections and connect using that

everytime i connect in my area, i get 7.2 Mb, and yes, it is that speed, as i get all my files at that speed

+ the ZTE Modem is much better than the rest as it has 2 antenna's, 1 For upload, 1 for Download. where the rest of the 3 modems only have 1

Think about the deal thou, £7.50 x 18month = £135.

You would usually spend atleast £50+ for the modem and well over £85 on pay as you go..

So its well worth it.

Very good point. I live outside the 3 3G area and these things just stop working unlike the ones from Orange, which just switches to 2G. Much much more expensive but important to note.

Thanks for that.

So if you want to use your 3G modem with Linux, get the Huawei E220 which works 'out of the box' with the Asus EEE PC et al :-

]ttp://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsu...ode=18M5ECD003

The other 3G modems can probably be made to work with Linux, but might require some changes to configuration settings etc.

This appears to be good deal....BUT when you check the T & C's (see below) that apply on the 'Buy Now' page it would appear you need to be an existing customer OR subscribe to a new Pay Monthly price plan as well as the 50% Mobile Broadband????

50% Mobile Broadband - Terms & Conditions
Offer available direct from 3 only until 30th September 2008 on a new Mobile Broadband Lite, 5GB or 15GB price plan when either: (1) an existing customer on a Pay Monthly phone or mobile broadband price plan later subscribes to a new Mobile Broadband plan; or (2) when a new approved customer subscribes to a new Pay Monthly price plan and a new Mobile Broadband price plan at the same time; (3) when a new approved customer subscribes to a new Mobile Broadband price plan and subscribes to a second Mobile Broadband price plan at the same time; or (4) when an existing Pay Monthly customer upgrades to a new Pay Monthly price plan and subscribes to a new Mobile Broadband price plan at the same time. The new/second Mobile Broadband price plan must have a minimum term of 18 months. Customers will lose their continuing eligibility for the half price mobile broadband plan if they terminate their existing plan prior to the end of their Mobile Broadband minimum term agreement. In other words the two plans have to run concurrently. Offer must be mentioned at the time of order as it cannot be applied later and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. 50% discount will be forfeited if either contract is in arrears or disconnects from the 3 network (for whatever reason). Terms apply. See instore or three.co.uk

don't waste your money... it rarely works! i'm stuck for another 18 months.. :x

For those slagging off the 3 service, I am sure there are places it wont work, but I have had this for 8 months now as I travel around the country staying in hotels and was getting fed up of paying through the nose for hotel interenet.

I have stayed in hotels all over the UK, in the town and in the country. The only time I have failed to get a connection was when we went to Devon Cliffs Haven Site which is perched on the edge of a cliff.

Whilst the speed does vary, I have always managed to load all internet pages, including pages like youtube etc The worst Ive had is aroun 500kbs and the best is around 3mbs. I didnt realise you could connect without using the 3 mobile software so will try that in my next hotel, in Birmingham on Wednesday.

When I signed up for 3, they told me I had 3 days to take it back to any 3 shop if the connection speed was not acceptable.

Hi
Does anyone know which of the modems is best signal wise ?
I would imagine the larger external would work better.

Thanks
JJ

has anyone who isn't an existing customer managed to get one at this price?

I don't recommend 3 broadband I had number of problems changing money to packages using firefox there is a problem with supporting Firefox and they CS admitted that. However when asked to refund they had been very reluctant, I had to wait few weeks they e-mailed me today with refund. But it's to late I moved to O2 home broadband and will probably not use 3 any more, they charge 1GBP / 1MB outside allowance on Pay as you go, it's a ripp off! And the speed was not enough to get two/one laptops web browsing using a wireless router at me home in the middle of small town! Where according to their maps should be supper dupper 3G signal coverage. Customer support all outsourced to India don't recommend to any one, probably better go with O2,Orange,Vodafone or T-mobile . But check the signal and if they offer 3G in your area first. Good luck

It does appear to be for new customers only (unless you buy two) as I've just asked them using their live chat facility:

[John] I followed a link from the deals website for a half price … [John] I followed a link from the deals website for a half price broadband deal that they seemed to think was open to anyone but when I click on the T&Cs they seem to suggest it's for existing customers only (or customers taking out two deals at once) -- which one is it please?[nikita] Hi John ,[nikita] well if you are an existing three customer then you will get 50% discount[John] It's not for new customers then?[nikita] no , only for old customers[nikita] who has already got a contract with us[John] Okay, thanks[nikita] sp are you planning to buy it today ![nikita] Also as you are planning to buy a new contract today i can go ahead and give you an ACCESSORIES VOUCHER worth £10 absolutely free as complimentary, Sounds Great Right !So should i give you the Free voucher code for today that's worth £10 ?[John] I don't qualify. I did take up a 50% off offer via Quidco but returned it as I only three days to make up my mind and erred on the side of prudence -- so I am an ex-customer so would presumably be classed as a new customer.[nikita] thats right ![nikita] then you cannot vail that offer unfortunately

We may have been misunderstanding each other of course as the word "live" wasn't enitrely accurate as they were probably dealing with several enquiries at the same time.

I tried to ascertain too if, if you took out two mobile broadband contracts at the same time (to qualify for the discount), whether the discount would apply to both or just the cheapest but they didn't understand my question and my patience ran out to pursue it any further.

i got it for this price and not a previous customer,,,had modem delivered last tuesday

Im not a Three customer either and i got the deal.

I got mine delivered last Tuesday too.

Fastest speed ive clocked up is 800kbps using speedtest.net and i live in a high speed area.

It hovers between 3g and HSDPA a lot.

Its just OK. Ill stick with it tho as a backup for the house and for traveling.

Hopefully at some stage over the next 18 months of the contract the service coverage will improve.
