Portable as in you can move it around from location to location, but needs mains power.
The one from screwfix that was 18-22 quid if I remember, was a better option as it doesn't require main as it has batteries (can run either or thou),

but this is cheap as chips..take your pick.. not voted either way.
Says in the description Bulb sold separately .
Seems a bit daft selling a portable light without the bulb included.
You would have to be mad to buy this over the led versions, that as Prototype says come with batteries.
The rechargeable Diall on Screwfix has some reviews of it failing. Unsure if the led is fixed and not replaceable in it.

With this mains powered one in this deal, there is an option of using regular or led bulbs in it. Being 400w gives some more flexibility in choosing and changing bulb wattage, colour temperature and lumens.

Heat added and order placed.

I was wondering about bulbs, thanks, you've just clinched it for me. Any LED bulb deals for this, anyone?

B&Q have a couple of Diall led bubls. £6 for a 1200lm & £4 for 600lm both apparently with a 5 year guarantee. Although reliablity could be an issue from reviews. Okay I suppose if a store is not far away if it fails to get an exchange.

I ordered this deal quickly in case it would sell out. Not yet ordered/bought any bulbs. Amazon/marketplace Amazon fulfilled has some led R7s bulbs for around £10 for two and several for a bit lower for 1.. I'll do a bit more research into a bulb later. Screwfix is cheap for non led R7S bulbs e.g screwfix.com/p/d…72k £1.19 for 400w.

Don't want to end up with a flickering LED bulb or one which is isn't bright enough. Could always get a lower lumen and a higher lumen bulb for different tasks I suppose. I'll comment back if I find anything which seems good at a reasonable price.

Edit: Also depends if you prefer to have a warm white or daylight bulb

Yeah, I saw the reviews of the Diall LED bulbs/reliability and it put me off. Will have a look around. Thought the Philips I put as a Deal would do, but apparently not that bright (d'oh...though if this is 400W then I have more choice, as you said earlier in the thread).

Just had another quick look on Amazon. Most of the R7s led bulbs seem to have reliability issues. Maybe a dodgy batch with some just being labelled with different brands but from the same factory. Could be the case that this type of led bulb is currently more prone to having issues than other led bulbs. The B&Q 1200lm Diall bulb seems reasonably priced at £6 Unsure how Diall are with warranty claims; or where the return address would be. Diall appears to be owned by the Kingfisher group and they own B&Q, Screwfix etc. kingfisher.com/fil…pdf Probably best to buy the R7s bulbs from a place with a good returns policy and with the bulb having a good guarantee. Depending on the task, a 400w bulb from Screwfix at £1.19 which works out cheaper than the 3 pack which is £3.59 could be worth using or having a couple as a spare.

The non-led R7s bulbs also seem to have issues.

The Philips you linked to seems okay. Can't find too many reviews for it.

Osram 9w 1055 lm for £6.99:

ebay.co.uk/itm…VAK

Seem a case of role the dice and take a chance with a r7s bulb an whether it will last and not flicker (for led)! Could be best handling both types (led and halogen) with gloves or a bit of kitchen paper when installing.

Edit: I am assuming this product takes 118mm R7s bulbs.

I'll probably pick up a Diall LED bulb when I visit B&Q. I saw a bunch of R7s Halogen Bulbs (rated at 120W) on Amazon Warehouse yesterday for 30-odd pence (!), wasn't sure if they'd be bright enough, and threw them back in the water (cancelled them) - they never reappeared
Check your item in the store. My reserved one was probably a return. I opened it in store and found the cable was all loose. Probably a return. I spoke to the member of staff and swapped it for another from the shelf after opening what was there, as they weren't sealed. Others had loose cables and 2 had the cables properly tied. Some could be returns like the reviews...they got annoyed that a bulb was not included and returned the item.

Got one of the 1200lm Dial bulbs for £6 which states a 5 year guarantee on the packaging @8 hrs per day but not for professional or commercial use. Got a Diall 400w and a 120w halogen bulbs reserved at Screwfix.
