Sorry if this has been posted before, I searched but couldn't find anything.
As a fishmonger at Morrisons, I just have to tell you about this offer. Normally retailing at £15.49 per kilo, a typical piece of Cod Loin would cost you about £7-8.
At the beginning of this week, we were told that the price would be coming down by £5 to £10.49 per kilo. This in itself is a fantastic deal, but sales were far from expected. As a result, the price has dropped to an OUTSTANDING £7.74 per kg.

Now if you don't know your Cod from Plaice, Cod Loin is a thick cut of tasty Cod fish, usually in a long 'strip'. This is boneless, and skinless, and so its perfect for all the familly. The pieces we usually get in are massive. One could easilly feed 2 people. And now that will only cost about £3.

This offer ends on the 11th October, so why not have fish for tea tomorrow?

Here's a link to the Morrisons' deal.

Think fillet is the whole side of the fish minus the messy bits, and loin is just the thick meaty bit.

Devilsknight688 should be able to tell us if he's a fishmonger

Yeah thats right. The loin is cut from the top of the fillet.
The bottom is where the stomach of the fish is, where all the guts were and where you usually get a lot of bones.
To put simply, when you see Loin, it means no mess, just meat (fish...).

 Will be getting some of that on the Sat. shop day. H+R

and whats the best way to cook it ?

great stuff, ill be shooting to morrisons in the morning then

GENTLY shallow frying would be the best way in my opinion. 4-5 minutes each side. Just be careful that it doesnt break up as its pretty delicate.
You could always grill it too. Stick some knobs of butter and some lemon on top and grill til it looks done.

I say! Give me your COD LOINS!!! OOWW MILKY MILKY.

This is the best cut from the fish. I've had it at Tesco's at that price. Will be going to morrisons though for a change!!

Thank you fishmonger!! Top price

My fav way of cooking cod - normally smoked - is to grill one side, t/over grill the other side, t/over again and put a good big load of salsa on top of the fish and grill till the salsa is hot. Suggest a mild salsa for unsmoked fish won't take long and is fab serve with some green

great indian way of cooking it is to just marinade it with tandoori paste, bit of lemon juice n few sprigs of blitzed up coriander.let it marinade over night or few hours at least then grill. wish there was a morrisons near me!

did this for hubbys tea, with parsley sauce.2 mins in microwave an its done, lovely and moist

2 onions sliced fried brown in 100 grms of fat, add 5 pieces of garlic and bit of ginger.... then add 1 ts salt 1 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp chilli powder 1tsp of tumeric (haldi) ... stir fry of 10 mins until reddy.. add fish and simmer for 15 mins then flip over....for further 15 mins ... sprinkle fresh corriander before serving... (wait a few more mins after adding corri) ... SORTED !... any problems call me i will show u.. as long as i get some

good deal...heat added

Cod is expensive, this is a good deal. Unfortunately no local Morrisons

may well be off to morrisons later!

Thanks for the posting. Last time someone posted the £1 fish, I went and bought 10 and it was a shame I hadn't had more room for the fish, I would have bought a box.

Shame people in this country do not like fish!

How did this get so hot if people in this country don't like fish?
Anyway aren't you in this country?

I had this last night. Quite tasteless as per the norm with Morrisons fish.

love the picture

Went to Bilston Morrisons this morning and the cod loin was not on special, quite disappointed :x

I know you might feel the fish would be more at home in the bath, but you can store this in the fridge.
