fair enough point but when you buy a pair of training shoes usually made in some sweatshop, a computer or electronic device again usually manufactured in a sweatshop in china (particularly in the case of Apple laptops and phones) do you apply the same kind of ethical thinking to those kind of deals?
No doubt that Bernard Mathews factory is under heavy scrutiny by the PETA people ensuring that what happend previously does not happen again but I doubt the same can be said for the workers in the factories being treated equally as bad making consumer products.

These turkeys are entirely innocent and shouldn't be voted down because of the misbehaviour of some other turkeys.

None of these deals in Manchester Denton, beware could be store specific!

this year turkey realy exspensive compared to last year asda small turkey £12.

ppl please don't be naive, you think apple product manufacturing is happening in heaven? far from reality

That is sad to hear - but I don't think that buying these at clearance or not makes any difference. Complain and don't buy at full price (when there is a profit to be made), that should have more effect.

Unfortunately there isnt always as simple an alternative in every case. If there were shoes/electronics/clothes/etc sitting right next to the product I wanted to buy that stated (and I trusted the statement) the person making them or animals which provided the leather etc were more humanely treated, yes I would buy that product.

I'm no saint, I love the occaisional KFC for example and I know they have questionable practices wrt animal welfare.

But when I can get like for like products within a few feet of each other and the only sacrifice I have to make is pay more or eat a little less meat, I feel pretty **** about myself buying the turkey thats been treated like **** for what little life its had.

I think that was the point he/she was making. Have another read of the post.

Although I'd disagree it only applies to Apple. If you follow the chain down of most electronic products, there is often some supplier/manufacturing partner with practices we'd consider dubious. IMO the plausible deniability is a key reason why many companies take small third party partner route.

There is no such thing as ethical killing, killing is killing. taking the life of a living being.

this carrot has been murdered !!!

these turkeys are now dead....

BM have already been paid by sainsburys....

It would be a greater waste for these to be binned now.

Yes. When my cat brings a mouse to the front door I tell him the same thing... Sorry, but we have evolved to eat meat, you can't do that without killing something! Hot deal, wish we had a bigger freezer!

Perfectly ethical to kill animals for food. It says so in the bible, even tells you the right way to go about it.

Doesn't mean you have to torture that "something" for its entire life prior to killing it for food.

Two different issues, certainly.

Heat from me - this is a site to promote / show good deals - not too debate!!

These turkeys are not halal.

I should hope not. Even the most luckless turkey has a better death than being tortured by some Third World system of subjugation-and-abuse-by-fairy-story from the Dark Ages.

AFAIA the Turkeys are at least £6.00 as I saw them on offer the other day. The Goose cheaper but don't be surprised to find none at £2.50

As I don't like Turkey and it would take weeks to get through this one I gave a miss.

It is a well known fact that mistreated animals always taste better, but cute animals trump even that. A mistreated lamb tastes amazing!

EDIT: Foxconn make most electronics and have virtually slave labour, you can't reply to this comment without exploiting someone in a developing nation so if anyone claims moral high ground I'll call you a tool :P
