Thanks, I’ve got a Bosch but a relatively cheap 40R? Rotak (I think) one which is an effort on long grass. Not sure if the ultra will be better, as I’ve only ever cut grass a few times and a complete newb.
Thanks OP ordered one.

I'd say almost all electric mowers struggle on long grass.

No, this is a lawn mower. What you need is a hedge trimmer for that sort of thing

Depends on your definition of large. I have a 10m X 15m thick lawn (fills a large wheelie bin each fortnightly cut) and tried to cut it with a Bosch 36 . It nearly killed it on 1st use. Had to go out and buy a petrol mower. For me hover mowers are for small lawns where manoeuvrability / speed is key over volume. Then comes electric (Bosch rotak 36/40) and battery powered mowers for mid sized lawns.
discount not showing on the website?
Looks like they’ve put some of them back at full price.

It was only the ones sold by Tesco itself that were on offer, they sold out quickly. The third party seller ones won't get reduced.

If you take the blade off most shoe repair shops will sharpen it and it doesn't cost much, a lot cheaper then a new mower if its just the cutting that's the problem.
nice find, good timing for my new turf. thanks OP
I love my flymo,my grass isn't the best quality and it's not very level i've found flymos ideal for those type of lawns they are very forgiving
The old Flymo’s were fantastic and lasted forever, great with wet grass and felt robust. The new range feel cheap and unfortunately the Ultra is the worst mower ever by Flymo, for a medium to large lawn.
The grass box fills up really quickly and this makes the machine really heavy and hard to manoeuvre. The front digs in and the design of the ‘duo’ hover base (one cuts, one lifts) is just a gimmick. Fine for small short flat lawns and the price is great for the top of the range Flymo - but reviews are mixed and it just can’t be recommended.

How long is the grass you're trying to cut? Ever thought about cutting it weekly?

agreed borrowed a neighbours when i never had one and it was awful, weighed a ton and couldnt push it. got a qualcast rotary one from argos and swear its made in the same factory who make bosh mowers ,motor sounds exactly the same and looks very similar, great little mower and its in its 3rd year now after heavy use.
If you have a big lawn and lots of it you need to cut it weekly and not wait for it to resemble some kind of jungle from rambo.
