Why do vegetarians try and mimicking meat drinks? If you don’t like meat then invent your own drink rather than fake pina colada.

Eh, how can it not be vegan? Recipe: rum, coconut cream, pineapple chunks, pineapple juice. I can't find a recipe where it adds shoulder of beef or any other animal products. "Not just a con, a M&S con"

It's the filtering process more often than not. A lot of wine is filtered using animal by products which makes it not vegan. It could be the same with the rum in most pina colada drinks.

Cream as in creamed coconut, coconut pulped!

No, white rum is filtered through carbon, still no animal involved. The coconut cream is made by simmering coconut in water.

More often than not, putting words like Vegan or Gluten Free lets the shop charge more for the product.

Good to know
I was puzzled at the "Vegan" claim. I assumed Pina colada used coconut cream? Well it's still a good post, so hot from me.
Heat from me.

Coconut cream!

As in coconut simmered in water, no milk or animal products involved

I feel you bro I feel you, it's like when I go to find my beef flavour crisps are totally vegetarian, I feel like I've been conned,

I just wanted beef in them

I didn't want fake crisps
It will likely be due to the fish gelatine often used in drinks filtering and also as a stabiliser in beta-carotene colouring. Alot of UK beers are not vegetarian due to the gelatin/isinglass used in the filtering process.

That slammed the brakes on the conversation LOL

Not sure it's a big thing really!
As for food, well burgers and sausages etc are useful shapes regardless of what ingredients you are using.
It's not as if a burger is a cut of meat like a T-bone etc, it's just a shape.

Well you see it isn't, look at the list of ingredients and the method of filtering the rum and you will see no gelatine isinglass is used so that's poppycock isn't it? Vegans can chose to be conned but they don't have to be,

I gave a general reason why drinks are not vegetarian, for a pina colada it will be due to the beta-carotine most likely used in the pineapple part of the drink. Here is an example from coca-colas website coca-cola.co.uk/faq…ans.

Beers and other alcholic drinks generally dont show the full ingredients news.bbc.co.uk/1/h…stm is another example.

I am a vegetarian rather than a vegan and usually stick to lagers brewed abroad preferrably german due to the purity laws .

There are plenty of apps and websites devoted to this sort of thing. So lets be clear its not a con alot of the time they put the VEGAN on for a reason , of course there may be times when its just a con but usually it isnt.
