I once stood under the only SR-71 "Blackbird" in the U.K. at Duxford and concurrently wept tears of happiness and sadness.

Never found a decent model of it though.

Love a Revell kit. Look at the Spitfire variants there! Everybody loves a Spitfire. Even the Luftwaffe admired seeing the underside of them after they had been shot down again.

I once built a beautiful Williams FW19. Came out bloody brilliant. Best one I ever did.

Got smashed to bits by some kids who thought it was a working toy a few months later.

I rage quit plastic models soon after.

I met Col. Rich Graham and we had a lovely chat after he gave a talk at a local RAeS branch about his experience flying the SR71. I'm lucky enough to work in Duxford and drive past the plane every day! I do also have the Italeri model kit in my pile of unbuilt models. I hope you find one! Such a beautiful and historic aircraft!

Are there any working discount codes? How do you get the 15% promo code from Hobbyclub membership? I'm seeing loads of different codes mentioned online... 15% for Hobbyclub membership... 10% for Newsletter signup etc. But there are no codes?? I've signed up to the Hobbyclub membership thing and there is no mention of 15% discount etc.

Also - I checked the price of some of these "50% off" kits... At best they are more like 20% off when I compared them to other places selling the same thing. Some of them are no cheaper than the normal regular selling price elsewhere...

Not as much as you hoped reading your post, but if you are a Quidco member and it tracks okay, 5% cashback.

Yeh - I gave up earlier looking for codes and used Quidco. Hasn't tracked yet. Worryingly I just noticed it says Quidco won't pay out if you're a member of the Hobbycraft club??? What the hell?? LMAO - I only joined the Hobbycraft club just before I purchased as it said online you get a 15% discount code if you sign up... (...)

Tamiya great as well, used to have the planes above the bed tied with cotton to ceiling so that they become mobile in the slightest breeze.
Wow, this takes me back... Been a long time since I've done anything like that, might grab a couple for the kids to do over Xmas

Have Revell started making any decent kits then or alternatively rebadged any decent kits from other manufacturers. Last time I bought a model the answer was no to both those questions but things may changed over the years.
I just bought some star wars sets, and the vw golf and finally the legends of the raf triple set! Me and my nephew will have some quality time over Christmas! Will be a break from kicking his ass at Mario kart!
Many thanks!!
I resisted for a day and then I just couldn't resist no more

Wow them were the days!!!
Tamiya, Lead soldiers, Dioramas the Clyde Model Dockyard in Glasgows Heilanmanns umbrella (anyone remember that magnificent modelmaking store the size of a Sainsbury) and all the other model shops and model soldier exhibitions , model railway fairs - them wur the days - better times!

Sorry this post put me in OFM!

Apparently it was called the RS-71 (Reconnaissance Strike) but the President at the time announced it as SR by mistake. They decided to keep that name.

That is true. Explained in both the fantastic biography of Clarence Kelly Johnson and the skunk works book by Ben rich. As well as col. Graham's own book ok the SR-71. Was also going to be a fighter/attack aircraft desginated the A12.
I really wish that ginormous Rockwell b1 b lancer was still in stock !
Brings back some great memories as a child
This is such a good deal that all the tanks are gone!! Oh well.
I love the Boner (that’s the secret name what B-1 pilots call it, they told me at an air show once).

I recall being obsessed with these in my long-distant youth (primary school days), before such things as computer games existed.

Absolutely cracking fun that I'd forgotten about until the OP posted this fantastic deal. Upvoted if for no other reason than it's reminded me of a pastime that I hadn't considered for ages. If I had kids I'd encourage them to give this a try.

Now to make my credit card weep even more.

Does anyone have a recommendation?
Great deal for little ones. The starter kits, look great as a first model for son 1. And which model to choose as his first - A spitfire of course.

The Dornier 17 kit is great. Originally ICM. The Hunter kit is also one of the best
Does anyone know how long the deal will be on for at all?
Should really finish my Airfix 1:24 Typhoon before I buy more kits...
