Got 6 slice today for £9 all I need now is the onions and mash

buy from a butchers. all supermarket meat tastes horrible, i cant eat it

Calling it 'Scottish' is stretching the truth a bit. It's farmed all over England then transported to Perth 30 days before slaughter. They do this because Scottish beef is supposedly the best, thus being able to label it as Scottish beef is a valuable marketing tool.

Still, it's probably reasonable enough stuff. Difficult to complain at £8.50/Kg! I'd be interested to know what it's fed on though and how long it's been aged for. I suspect grain and <7 days are the answer...

I bought sirloin from my local butchers the other day, £ 22 a kilo for sirloin and it was £ 36 /Kilo for Fillet which my budget just couldnt stretch too. Got to say though it was amazing compared to supermarket stuff. I paid £ 24 a kilo from sainsburys for some fillet for doing a dinner party on new years and it was awful. I didnt think any fillet steak would be bad, how wrong I was.

Will just eat less and buy from the butchers from now on but voted hot as v cheap for this

Oh God I'm drooling....steak, mushrooms, peppercorn sauce, chunky chips and a bottle of Innis and Gunn!

They transport the cattle to Perth 30 days before slaughter to make the cow glad to die!!!! Thumbs up for humanitarian reasons in my book:p

I live in a lot of newish housing 1 mile from a Tesco Extra. The two butchers I can think of both folded. I would love to have a good local butchers...

Local butchers are better by miles without a doubt and I do buy most of my meat from them but this is a very good price. I got a delicious bit of sirloin from Sainsburys cheap last time I went. I can't eat supermarket sausages though! I love steak sausages from the butchers mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

have to agree of which tescos / asda are the worst.

Havent bought sirloin for a while but no way does my butcher charge £17 a kg!

just to clarify - been intoday - its labeled english steak not scotish.

well, i had my fillet tonight, superb, scottish butchers are tops

I get my steak from Makro. Massive half rumps for about £25, can get about 7 or 8 10-16oz steaks out of it too and its much better quality than supermarket rubbish!
