I had my first salmon in years today - it was delicious!

I got it from Sainsburys though, and it cost a lot more

Packet salmon in Tesco has been getting smaller and smaller through the years and the price has gone up.

Might start buying from the counter with great offers like this.

Still too rich for me.

Haven't voted cold, as its a deal compared to normal but even discounted its not great compared what they sometimes do at £5-10 a kilo.

This works out at about £10.72 per kilo - Certainly better than the typical £11.98 per kilo in most of the main supermarkets but not really worth filling the freezer with at this price. Best to stock up when Morrisons have their regular deals on fresh salmon at about £7.99/kg or buy whole salmon from Asda when they have it on offer & get them to prepare it for you on the counter.

If you do your shopping online, the cheapest at the moment is Ocado - 500g of fillets for £5 - that's just £10 a kilo.

Agree though that best way is to wait for whole salmon offers at the fishmonger in Tesco/Sainburys/Adsa, buy a whole fish and get them to chop into steaks.

Heat though for a good brain food!

I was thinking the same. With this price I'm baffled why people get so excited. Is it because they can't figure out £/kg?
Not worth voting hot at all,

I have thought about starting a salmon farm as a business, as the price keeps going up. I think the red tape would be a nightmare though. Heat added thanks.

Salmon farms are a joke! I certainly wouldn't be buying farmed salmon!

Cold. Who cares about salmon

£7.99/kg is a whole salmon which include head, fins, tail and it has not been descaled. All of parts that you do not need add up to the weight and come into equation to make up £/kg.

Also keep in mind you are buying in a bulk. Bulk price in economic term is always be cheaper in £/item than regular price.
Because you buy in a bulk, for ordinary people will mean they will need to put some of it in the freezer for future consumption, unless of course if they are organizing a party.

So £7.99/kg is not necessary better price than £10.72/kg with salmon like this ....

Salmon like wireless mouse not bad for £1.50

Nice try but not that good. Can get it much cheaper when sides of salmon are on offer, that's when it's time to stock the freezer, not now.

Nice try? I agree sides of Salmon would be much better if they were on offer, but unfortunately they are NOT. Personally I think this is a good deal, its beneficial to me and I am sure many others too.

Have fun waiting for the sides to come on offer, I'll be sure to keep a look out

£7.99 is the typical (albeit, occasional) on-offer price in Morrisons for fillets & sides of salmon - without heads & tails. Yes, they may not be skinless but still far better value than £11 a kg.
