Swiss made? Why is this so cheap?
I got the Roadster Black Night (steel bracelet) a few weeks ago from Amazon US for just under £45 - not sure if there's a difference between these Roadster varieties. It does have Super Luminova and seems pretty well-made (haven't really worn it yet, boyf fancies it for himself!).38000001-t6nEL.jpg

Mine is different (Model: 01.0851.122), which is why I speculated about the other potential differences, note the position of the date marker..not sure what else. Flying Fashion were selling them but the listing for mine is OOS on Amazon US. 38000150-oti8b.jpgEdit: There's a good picture of the lume for mine, here (better than any I attempted!) so I'd assume this one will be similar. I'd say it looks more blue-y in reality.38000150-C7ZwS.jpgAnother Edit: Suppose the obvious ones are the textured dial, bezel, the indices and train-track minute markers. And the steel bracelet As they're both "Roadster"s I'd assume it's just these cosmetic differences.

I think Wenger watches are cheeper than before because Victorinox which owns Wenger, it is slowly shutting down the brand.

I can see forum posts stating that they're shutting down the Wenger *knife* range, but not their watches. Some from 2013-ish onwards.

Example here

there is a lawful difference between swiss made and made in Switzerland. So it's not really a swiss watch

It was either Watchuseek or ManOnTime forums (think it was the latter). They'll probably go down again if you CamelCamelCamel them - there were a few on offer, Victorinox as well.

No. I've bought a few from Amazon US. The price you pay includes all import fees.

Says 22mm on Certified Watch Store here

Yeah, as merlinthehappypig said, we pay fees at checkout with Amazon US (this is just an example, ignore the numbers)38006361-mW8QD.jpgBest to pay with a fee-free card which takes the price down a bit more too (I don't have one!).

It clearly says "Swiss Made" on the dial, therefore it meets the legal definition, same as a Tag Heuer, Same as Omega. Without looking it up, I believe it's 60% of the parts, and the final assembly must be in Switzerland.
I accept some Swiss watches go farther than others, but this sits a tier above watches that only carry the "Swiss Movement" label on the dial.

Just had a brief read. I knew the 60% thing, the loop hole seems to be that this is cost only. So companies can use a small amount of swiss parts and a lot of cheaper Chinese parts to put together the swiss assembled watch. I'm not being a watch snob, I'm sure it's a great watch. However for the price point, a swiss made implies swiss craftsmanship. Which is a stretch

The watch is Swiss made, the criteria for which are pretty strict, and are only getting stricter. Wenger’s strength is in offering this standard for a relatively low price.
I don't get the Swiss Made thing now. OK in times when people didn't move around the world much I can see why maybe localised knowledge and practices could make Swiss Made a little different. Ditto manufacturing machinery staying in situ in the County. But now that isn't the case, and I don't believe there is a 'Swiss watchmaking gene' so without reading anything about "Swiss Made"...what is the deal with Swiss Made right now? And I do have a few Wenger's so I ain't hating on the idea.

PS Hint - hic

In basic terms it's no different to saying "Scotch" Whisky, or similar, it's just saying where it's made, it's not a guarantee of any particular quality. There are rules surrounding whether or not "Swiss Made" can be used if you want to check I out, it's something like 50% of the watch's 'value' needs to come from manufacturing in Switzerland, but I cannot remember exactly.
