Which store please

I believe the TPLink versions are better as you don't need the hub like you do on this system, trouble is the TPLink versions are sold out everywhere at standard RRP.

Keeping an eye on this hoping there's a local store to me

Don't need the hub on wemo. I have TP Link and Wemo and both work fine straight off the wifi.

Yes, no hub needed for Alexa. Alexa 'Lights Off' worked without any setup whatsoever, presumably because the wemo was called wemo-light

I've just bought a Wemo Motion+Switch here in Spain for the bargain price of £19. I have mixed feelings about Wemo but at that price I wasn't going to walk past. yes Wemo works without a hub and with Alexa and Smartthings. All that said they are still very buggy devices - bulbs and switches. I have about six switches connected to Smartthings and Alexa. I would never use them for anything important as they lose comms far too often. that said for turning a light on or off these are fine. And at this price they are very cheap.

Can't say i've ever had issue with them dropping out at all (Had the wemo ones since Oct) and today I have just changed my router (finally they've put fibre access in my street!!) and they've connected straight up as soon as the router wifi came online.

None in Newbury Park, they never had any to begin with. The guy checked his machine and found none at Beckton either so no point anyone heading out there.

They had the mihome starter kit for £49 and apparently 1 in stock but he couldn't find it - I reckon it's been swiped.

I called Beckton and they had one starter pack left, but the guy on the phone checked the price and it was back to £60. So it's obviously not nationwide that offer!

Ah, I asked the guy specifically for the plugs. No point getting starter kit, I don't buy stuff to sell on eBay like half the people who rush to bargains!

But the starter kit had two bulbs which for £30 is a bargain considering they are £20 a piece, plus you get the hub for future wemo items. I was buying it for myself, to slowly build up my smart home so it a shame it's not nationwide. Oh well, there will be other deals at some point!

Just be careful with the Wemo plugs, they're MASSIVE in comparison to the Hive plugs (and probably others):

If you need to plug anything next to them you may fall foul:

Thanks, you've just saved me a trip

You can get Hue bulbs normally at 15 quid a pop. get a second hand version 1 hub and you have the beginning of much more reliable lighting than Wemo.

I've already got Hue bulbs all over the place which work very well so don't need the starter kit. Just after some power plugs now for turning my underfloor heating on and off which the wife turns on and forgets about all night long.

The Hue system looks good but the range of bulbs is limiting. With the Wemo smart plug you can control any light or electrical device really. Theres also the added benefit that you don't need a separate hub to talk to the plugs like you do with the Wemo plugs. Granted you do for the Wemo bulbs but this is a small plug in device which can be fitted into any plug and is discrete.

Sorry meant you don't need a separate hub to talk to the Wemo plugs like you do with the Hue system

Normal price in Emersons Green, Bristol

Not to be found in Macclesfield

No signs of any in Crystal Peaks, Sheffield

none in Upton in wirral.

You don't need a hub for wemo and they are more compatible with other products like echo and harmony than the tp link ones

Saw these all at half price in Sunderland today
