Half price Wilkinsons petrol lawnmover - £49.50 instore only

Found 4th Jul 2014Made hot 4th Jul 2014
Been keeping my eye on this lawnmower in my local Wilko for few months.
Went in today and its shelf price was £49.50 down from £99 so snapped it up.
This was a normal white shelf sticker, didn't ask if it was national.
Has good reviews on the website but still is advertised at £99, maybe just instore only?
Have receipt photo, will post below -

That's dirt cheap for a petrol lawnmower!

Dead alive!

I'd never buy a cheap petrol mower

why not? is there something wrong with this model? why should I spend more?

Why don't you expand on your point instead of just telling people. Maybe it'll benefit other people too.

Now this appears to be a jolly good bargain....

However, it also looks like it won't last very long.

In response to last post, it has a plastic deck which could crack if heavy enough stone is thrown up, it has a cheap generic petrol engine which might not be very long lived, and it is a push mower so your garden better be flat or you'll have problems.

Still for £49 it's probably worth a punt, but don't be surprised if it packs up quite early in its life

Heat.

It cuts grass so will be fine

well our honda lawnmower cost about 350 quid 25 years ago,
and its still going strong

The same could be said about almost all electric mowers, and they usually cost around twice as much as this.

Under £50 for a petrol mower is insanely good value and if there are quality issues, use your consumer rights!

My cheap 15yr old £169 Qualcast from Homebase is still going strong and starting to smoke.......time to service the old gal

What colour is the smoke? After that time I would bet my back teeth that its a fail piston ring.

It's had at least one service, not for the last 5 years - was after a new one but it won't pack up!!

Plastic lasts better than just about any metal providing it is thick enough. It won't rust and are normally pretty tough.. Just looking at that engine I can tell you it is a shameless Chinese copy of a Honda OHV unit. They are surprisingly robust, very easy to maintain but spares are pretty much non existent. Still for £50 this is an outrageously good deal.

Black colour I think, running too rich?

Bingo. Either sticky float in the carb or restricted air flow.

Pull the cab, clean it. Change the diaphragm, new air fliter total cost about £12.

Monofilament Graphene - enough to slice through a bull elephant's cranium.

Mild Steel!! What else on a cheapy petrol mower?! (Its rotary btw)

I'm with you Fish. Too many inarticulate baseless comments flying around

Looks a good bargain for the price. But anyone who has a garden so big they need a petrol mower should be rich enough to invest in a cylinder mower which will give a better cut and clearer stripes.

Bargain! Heat added

That would be too hard to expand or comment on to give us the facts
These people would find a fault in toilet paper !
Heat added fab price !

great deal. this has 59 good reviews and for this price I think it is a bargain. I paid two times this about 15 years ago for one very similar and it's still going strong.
