if youre using it on a daily basis for repairing cars and lorries - you need a professional set. For everyday DIY person who will use it to tighten up nuts and bolts its much better quality than the cheap ones. It doesn't pretend to be a professional set or to last after being heavily used on a daily basis. Again for the money it is excellent.

I got one of these at Xmas for a bit cheaper but it’s good quality for the price and I’ve used it a bit when kept in car , handy bit of kit and compact heat added
if you get it on a trade card comes in at £8. Voted hot here
It's also great for home mountain bike maintenance.. heat..

That particular type of ratchet has given me some problems over the years. Any heavy use renders it useless, in my experience. Probably okay for very light use.
Thanks for the heads up, just bought one.

So, have you used it? It is obviously not for a professional to use on cars and lorries. But would be really good to hear from someone who has actually purchased this item, and can make a comparison with a similar item. So many subjective comments on HUKD make it really difficult to make an informed decision!
Yes i have used it that is why i said it was excellent for the money

I've owned one of these for 15+ years now (the case is different and has broken at the hinges but the contents look exactly the same), I've used it on cars, DIY etc it's still going strong. Obviously due to the size it's not meant for getting wheel bolts off, but I have given it a fair bit of force (even with a lever to get a oil drain nut off) and it survived.

Good deal OP.
please can u add the code on

its a quarter inch ratchet. its not intended for the heavy duty tasks that require more torque. thats what the bigger ratchets are for

I Bought this at xmas time for around the same price. On the first use 2 weeks ago the ratchet broke. Halfords did not want to give me a replacement as it was not got in guarantee period??

As a "Goodwill Gesture" they did..... nothing to do with me starting to have a go as we only used it for light use.

Be aware
The code seems to work on the "Professional" socket sets too . It's brought the price of the 200 piece set down to £157.25 for me with click and collect from my local store . If this is any use to anyone ?
Works fine until you input the code

True it is a good deal, although still annoyed most of these sets are packaged with 10p screwdriver bits to claim to have more sockets than actually present. Good to see imperial sizes and metric
Just ordered one, thanks very much
Got an error when checking out. Probably my browser. Thankfully technology stopped me from buying something I dont need (and cannot justify in the wildest way).
I bought one last time it was here because it was cheap and wish I had not. Once you have their advance tool sets you will notice the quality difference. Wait till their advance tools are reduced and keep an eye on their prices so you know when it is a bargain.
Ordered, seems decent enough for the shed.

Halfords is considered a professional set. I have used halforda tools my entire life and theres never been a fault. I think one timw the ratchet system broke but no receipt got a replacement anyway... i dont know if this has professional printed on it but halfords do have professional set which is greatly cheaper than the overpriced snap-on fashion accessories and still just as good and made with the same materials. Do not assume this is unsuitable for everyday professional work because its great for just that, the everyday professional and not to mention super cheap.

Snap-on = overpriced fashion accessory

Halfords pro tools = working man with common sense tools

Get the bigger versions which are intended for heavy use. The ratchet here is part of 8.50 set... it is intended for light use. Buy the more expensive bigger pro toolset halfords offer... theyre great

No.

Why not? Ive changed spark plugs using this exact ratchet. Nothing wrong with halfords gear. a good builder does not blame his tools!

Show me where in my comment I called Halfords tools, I said NO thats all, you can't change spark plugs because it doesn't have deep sockets to allow you to do this.
I also voted hot for this deal.

Got this last time it was this price and it's a decent set. Just make sure the socket sizes are what you need as they are quite small (I had to buy extra sockets for the car)
