i would never buy halfords branded oil even it was a pound

I think Oil is one of the things you really shouldn't skimp on. Pay the extra few quid for some Quality, branded oil.

It's not like your going through litres of the stuff a week is it? Put some rubbish oil in, and one day you might be as the insides of your engine wear themselves out.

Retailers don't make oil, instead they tend to rebrand oil that is available elsewhere under the maker’s name. In the case of Halfords I believe the maker is Millers, a producer of good quality lubricants. If you know that Europarts Semi-Synthetic oil is made by a company of equal repute then £11.58 is a good price but “British” isn’t enough information.
