Is this one being replaced too?
Decent price
Also available on the Halfords website for the same price with code FLASH5
Would rather get this:
ebay.co.uk/p/M…125

Or £95 on Amazon:
amazon.co.uk/Mak…EG/

But then I'm a Makita fanboy

Haven't compared them in detail but it looks like you get more in the Makita set (no double ended spanners, perhaps fewer sockets, but loads more drill/screwdriver bits)

Nicer case too if that matters to you.

What I don't get is... where have all the existing socket sets gone that Halfords can keep on selling these things? If let alone for too long do they pair up and disappear to socket-set-land or morph into coat hangers? Surely all men, and indeed some women, have at least two socket sets already clogging up sheds and under-stair cupboards

Having said that, this looks like a pretty comprehensive set and perhaps I need a third, just to be safe.

Makita is more DIY where halfords mechanics. Pure example these bulk handles on ratchets? Have you seen how much space there is in these new cars under bonnet? Try to squeze this bulk handed ratchet in tight space... Halfords keeps things simple just bar handle not extra thick shite on it Also goodluck with any replacement with Makita, think most people would prefer to walk to local shop to replace broken item
Looks like halfords is clearing old sets as new ones already on shelves. New 200pcs looks really sweet considering content (bigger breaker bar, some extended bits etc) and color coded sockets, but price yet needs to come down
Old 200pcs version was great but this one seems like someone spend some time putting list together to make it more attractive to mechanical people as it ticks 99% of my needs in it... And they modified case a bit, not sure how long would last but they were cheap anyway.

The age of the population does not stay static

Every year there are new people who previously may not have had a need for such a set

And then there's upgrades, replacements, another set to keep somewhere else, you name it.

Fair enough

So this is more suited for automotive use, and the Makita set for home use.

Both can be used and bought for either I imagine.

I suppose you can have an auto set, and a home set - and that probably makes sense given grease etc.

I'm looking at home use.

As for replacements, just buy from Amazon - great customer service (at least as a Prime member). Although that would end up being a refund or a new set - not just a replacement tool - so could be the environmentally worse option.

That's not applicable, Amazon aren't offering lifetime warranty on the tools. If you break one of these in ten years time Halfords will still replace it, Amazon would say tough luck we will sell you a new one.

I don't get the grease thing, that doesn't make sense, tools get dirty no matter the location. That you repair your car at home doesn't make it cleaner than the garage, nor does it make degreaser less effective at cleaning your tools before you put them away.
Cracking price for this. Did have my eye on the 120 with 20% off but they've all gone..

I don't really need this as I do have most of these it's, but they're spread across several sets.
