Unfortunately the old 200 piece set where half the sockets are imperial. Still the best price I've ever seen it

Kinda useful tbh. They fit imperial nuts and bolts.
Buy the chrome set rather than the limited edition black set. The coating on the black sets is easily scratched, and you’ll be lucky they don’t come scratched from new.

This is the cheapest I’ve seen em in the last 5 years 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stonkin price for a stonkin set

Fill yer boots.
Excellent!! Getting really difficult to find non-metric spanners and sockets.
What's the difference between this one and the one over £200? Apart from the price.

The new set has a couple of plastic coated sockets for taking wheels off without marking the alloys.
I already have one of these, going to get another set to keep in the van!
For some reason even without the voucher these cost more on trade

Hex and star, flats have more surface area of contact and less likely to round off your bolts.
I’ve been waiting for this to come down to this price again ordered thanks
Had a 200 piece set for a few years. I highly rate it. Never seen it this cheap! 🔥

Fantastic price, I get a further 10% off so £92, and if I didn't already have two of these sets I'd be buying another

They'll last longer than the Titanic did, too.

Reserve online with code then collect and pay instore.
Lovely- I paid £100 about a decade ago, and they have seen some big jobs. Had half an eye on the price in the meantime and not seen this set below £100 in years. If you're thinking of starting to maintain your own car in any way at all, you need one of these sets, urgently.
Absolute bargain!!!. Even the imperial sockets useful if got a worn bolt or rusted one or an old motor

I get the same discount so have gone for it. There is my xmas pressie sorted!
Cases come apart on these like the newer ones for storage in a tool chest? Or are they single piece moulds?

You need to let go mate... most over rated pieces of junk on the road... slow noisey unrefined... tried a few and they're rubbish... even an sj413 looks like a luxury 4x4 compared to an 88

You must be joking. Every nut and bolts on a land rover ends up having to be removed by one of these bad boys because the head has rusted away39471195-ULh7Y.jpgIn all seriousness though, I'd recommend a 6 point socket set instead of a 12 point one. You're much less likely to round nuts and bolts off.
3% Quidco cashback also!
Madness. Never fixed a car in my life until this year, this set has saved me upwards of £800 quid plus countless hours by having the right tool to hand.

It also comes with a lifetime guarantee, if Halfords are around that long...

Honestly, buy it now or be sorry later; my understanding is that Halfords are rebranding the 'Advanced' range and this is considered discontinued. Expect to pay double for whatever name such sets are reborn with.

Scratch that doesn’t work with another code 🙈
I nearly got one of these for my son a few weeks ago. But two things stopped me.

Firstly if you look in forums it seems the quality of these sets isn’t as good as Halfords older Professional range. It seems like they made a decision to lower the quality but rely on the lifetime warranty to take care of those more regular users.

Secondly that lifetime warranty sounds pretty enticing, but Halfords profits are continuing to drop (3 profit warnings this year). With so many highstreet causalities in the last couple of years, it may be worthless a little further down the track.

So personally I decided to get him a Bahco set from Amazon.... which again shows the challenge the highstreet/Halfords is up against.
Very tempting. I already have lots of socket sets and most people only ever use a few of the sizes over and over while the others just sit there and look pretty.

Socket sets to men is like Imelda Marcos is to shoes!
Thanks OP, had no intention of buying a socket/ratchet set just came on to browse deals, I now have a set on its way! HOT!
I’m going to get this but want to know which metric sockets I should buy individually to fill in the gaps, so to speak
Sure this same set (or almost identical) was on sale a year or so ago for £50 when I bought it.

Haha so true. Irwin nut set was the second tool I bought after a hub nut socket . There is the odd 12 point nut on a defender but you are right in that 6 point sockets are the choice for better grip around the bolt head
The lifetime warranty thing on these sets depends on how close you live to Halfords I reckon in terms of how worth while it is. The things that will break in this kit are the small bits (torx/allen etc), and since they are only maybe a fiver each, I would personally rather just order a new one from Amazon/Ebay and spare myself the hassle of having to drive to Halfords in my spare time.

My two colleagues at work (I'm a mechanic) have these kits, and they seem ok but I still think that they're expensive for what they are once you factor in the stuff that you'll hardly ever use (even in a professional workshop).

I've always bought exactly what I needed as I go along (and obviously these days need nothing), and that is the best way to go if money is tight.

If money isn't tight then there are better quality kits from any number of brands.

Also, in terms of quality having gone downhill; as I understand it Halfords kits are made by Signet, so quality is dependant entirely on what Signet is churning out...

How ???? That is surely a glitch ??? I have never known these to drop to £50 ever if I remember correctly.
I think I bought he 170 set some years ago (200 was too expense at the time) . It sat there for maybe 4 years until I decided to finally get my hands dirty on the car and I have to say glad I had it as made working on the car so much more enjoyable. I only wish I had the 200 set as there were a few in-between sized sockets/hex that my set was missing.

This is a great set and price if you're serious about working on the motor. Wish I could buy this.
