Very good deal

Nice one, missed this last time on offer.

Reserved one, thanks OP

Tempted to this but have no use for imperial sockets. What use are imperial sockets now if you don't own a classic car? Deal still hot.

Imperial can come in handy on corroded or partly rounded metric sized bolts/nuts

Thanks.

Good deal, bought it at this price last time was on offer - hotukdeals.com/dea…133

Should get hot

I have been using it a lot since then and the only thing it really lacks is some more extensions especially on 1/2" drive for tight nuts in awkward places (suspension for example). The screwdriver bits are also particularly cheap feeling, but it's still a steal at the price!

Just picked mine up.

Thanks for posting :-)

Superb tool set. had mine about 2 years now, had a couple of bits replaced without questions. Well worth £59.99

Halfords appears to have crashed!!

Why is it every time we get a Halfords professional set on like thsi, someone has to say they have no use for imperial? Lots of items still use AF nuts and bolts. Briggs and Stratton for example. If you have a lawnmower with a B&S engine, the AF tools are useful. Certain socket sizes are compatible, ie 7/16 and 13mm. More than just classic cars will use imperial tools.

used on almost all commercial aircraft. thats why i wish halfords did a better range of imperial tools!

Can this be purchased at this price instore?

I would like to see if my Halfords Trade Card can get it any cheaper.

ETA: Have some heat OP.

Always pays to have good quality tools, a steal at this price. Hot!

A couple of points: The larger drive sockets are 12 point? And biggest socket looks like 24mm.

Not taking anything away from the deal, great price nice and tidy case.

Seems like all socket sets are at least 50% off

See here

Fantastic price.

I've got the 170 piece set and it's got 27, 30 and 32mm sockets too. I've had to use the 32mm on some car hubs and a motorcycle axle.

As others have said, occasionally there are bolts on things for quite a few years!

I didn't run around renewing all my bolts when most were produced in metric.

Yea thats the main use of my 32mm is my little 106 hub nuts. Just wanted to bring it to light just incase anyone was unaware.

Renaults also use 32mm hub nuts.

I'd get (actually did) a Halfords 150 piece set. But wait until the price down to around £80 or less, which It is occasionally

Can't comment on quality but;

If you want the larger 150 Halfords set, these pop up at £79 from time to time - so bide your time.

The Bahco S106 sets can easily be had for less than Amazon, including £127 delivered from ebay.

This toolset is top quality. Lifetime guarantee on it all means you don't ever need to buy twice (apart from the ratchets, but then they never get lifetime guarantee from anyone).

I personally would have liked to see some 6 point sockets, and I'd also consider picking up a set of the flexible ratchet spanners. Both these things should be a part of anybodies toolbox who is even half serious.
Edited by: "Anarchist" 23rd Jul 2013

So can you still use these on modern devices with them being imperial?

Im really after the 170 piece atm does any one know if it we be any cheaper then the £125 atm as i think i saw it just after new year for £100.

The dearer one for example has 7 half inch drive sockets x Metric Sockets: 20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 30, 32mm while this cheaper one has ◾4PC1/2" Drive Regular Socket mm: 20, 21, 22, 24Have they priced this special offer with cheaper components?

There are two 120 peice sets as you have found (and also two 150 peice sets). They tend to sell one of each type at a discounted price one time and the other set at another time. So maybe you should select the set to suit your requirements and if it is not this one, wait for the other to be on offer. Just a suggestion.

Yeah these always come on offer and on here quite a lot but always well deserving of their heat as they really are a quality set for any DIY or hobbiest mechanic.

Should have more deals like this rather than 50p off the latest game or £1 off a SSD etc.

Every now and then I have found imperial sockets on modern machines. Not modern cars, but surprisingly vehicles that are not that old. Worth having a set around, thats for sure.

Halfords stuff is top notch, and the bahco stuff is quality too. You won't be disappointed with either.

Valid point, in the larger sizes, It was more about the type of socket, not the size. I would much rather have 6 point sockets, not 12, if they are high torque applications, you'll be glad for them. I tend to use airgun quality sockets for the larger nuts now.

Guarantee is not worth a jot, had to argue over a 1/4 drive socket warranty that I used twice at 2 days old, in the end had to speak to a manager to get it replaced, they only guarantee anything snapping, not moving parts. But I have had exactly the same from snap-on too, all these things are only as good as the seller you are dealing with, some don't argue others need reminding of how much you have spent with them.

But for the money, this is a great set for a Home mechanic or a gift for someone who needs a better tool kit than your old spanners.

why expired?

Depends on your dealer/driver. I've known people that have had gear failures on snap on ratchets refused. They don't strictly warranty the gears in ratchets, only the head etc. Most will just sort it though as you already paid 5x the going rate.

Still live.

Still working. Just reserved mine :-)

Why is this expired. It has just been posted again. Unexpire this and continue the heat deserved.
