    That's brilliant.

Most vehicles require the water from your tap used in your windscreen washers to be registered with the on-board computer system. Therefore, a professional fitting at a Halfords store or autocentre garage is strongly recommended.

It's not completely untrue. Some vehicles should have new batteries registered. BMWs from early 2000s did. The alternator will only run intermittently, rather than deliver a constant load, depending on the battery's age, to save fuel and reduce wear on the battery. I think it's a fairly crude algorithm based on age/mileage rather than detection of battery properties, but I could be wrong.

I think VW and Audi have similar requirements too.

I replaced my stop start battery. I didn't have to do anything apart from reconnecting the pos & neg cables. (edited)

It's only certain cars. I went to get a new agm (stop/start) battery for my car and the lad tried this...then pulled a face when I said it isn't needed on my car and I'm not paying for them to undo 3 bolts and tighten them again!
