I've been looking for one of these. Thanks!!

is it just me or do Halfords do this deal every few months? got the same model around the same price in Sept last year.

Has been 30 quid from halfords before i believe

Still is for ex-display, if you can find one

great price for a Pioneer - HOT

great bit of kit. I have a pioneer headunit with USB etc similar to this.
sound retrieve etc excellent.
has built in mood light which is really bright and good at night

Just what I was looking for, excellent.

I got one of these for £39 quid a couple of weeks back from Halfords. they had a selection of ex-demo sets or various makes. All unboxed and with missing everything? But for the price I am very pleased. I sold my Lidls set for £49 which was well specced but the amplifier was inferior. This takes my Iphone.

As with all of these gadgets these days setting up is tricky as it involves multi key presses etc. Some people find this earier than others. I have it set up having found some great tutorial videos on the company site.

Trouble is I have now forgotten how to do a few things and will need to watch the videos again.

I do not know why for the life of me that Halford cannot put a Radio in a display box, then put all of the accessories, manuals, leads, remotes back in the original box and store the box safely. That would mean they could sell their used demo kit for more or at least sell it complete and have a happy customer.

It's the Iron Ladies funeral today - will be watching out to see if David Beckham's there.

I have this exact unit and paid a bit more than this. I have to say it's spot on! Absolutley steal for £39.99!!

User manual here if anyone wants more details

Like the idea of just being able to load files directly from a usb stick - saves transfering the mp3 player back and forth from the car.

bluetooth has to be a must... Not hot for me, not cold either, fair price

No CD player - hope my iphone doesnt break

Tempted to buy one for my 206 as it's stock stereo is rubbish and the CD player is "iffy" to say the least now.

Just need to check the compatibility and see if it will link to the steering wheel stork controls.

Plays mp3's from USB drives too anyway. Not just iPod.

£139 RRP?

*chuckles*

I bought a very similar model up about a year ago. Can't remember the price but it was cheapest with a front and back aux, CD player and back then it was around £50.

Been very happy with it, if you want something cheap with an aux port can't complain but i'd imagine there are similar alternatives with CD players too. Not voted either way

Great I just need a deal on Citroen Saxo now

It will, but you'll need the adaptor and patch lead to do it, available from Ebay

no bluetooth? Like a previous poster, not hot for me either (but won't vote cold).

Hmm, saw this posted a couple weeks. Was tempted but then thought against it as I can't be bothered sorting out music on a device lol!

Can someone please confirm if this works with the iPhone 5?

Good price for a branded unit, think I paid about £65 for a JVC equivalent last September. Deliberately went with one without a CD player, didn't see the need for it when you can easily get plenty of music onto a USB flash drive or iPod, plus the removal of the CD slot means you get a bigger display.

I also got one of these for mine, it's so small that it barely protrudes from the front of the headunit when it's inserted:

I bought one of the ex-display one of these a few weeks back. I can confirm it works with both the standard iPhone 5 charger cable and I also bought a cheap £4 adapter on ebay to use the old iPhone cable with it.

Are you actually being serious??

If serious, then look on the Halfords Site from the OPs link and you'll see nothing to say free fitting but you will see a tick box above the Reserve or Buy button that clearly says "Add Store Fitting Option" for £29.99

cheers

Yeah. I'm voting cold for that reason. People put those in the titles as a way of trying to get hot votes. A quick Google search tells you £39.99 is a small reduction off the normal price.

does anyone know if this will play MP3 files from a USB key with the following criteria...

- the MP3 files are within a folder where the folder is named to show the album and artist name. - lots of these folders in the root of the USB key, each with the album tracks within them.
- AND the MP3 files have been stripped of all tags so the only info available is the MP3 file name.

...or does it need properly tagged MP3s all in the root folder of the USB key?

Good stereo, i got one last month to use with my iPod nano, and it works a treat.
Also came with the ISO cable which my old pioneer didn't, so that saved me a few quid.

"Stalk" as opposed to "stork", unless you have a bird sat on your steering column.

No it wasn't serious, halfords are such a rip off usually. This is a good deal, I have a friend who works there so will get 10% off and free fitting :-)

Thanks for posting. Just ordered through Quidco to get 3% cash back too :-)

I have a 2300UB (discontinued) bought for £64.99 in 2011 and from the look of the manual for the 1400UB, they have similar features, so yes, it should be able to play your two queries easily. It will even play unamed files so long as they are in MP3,WAV or WMA format. Remember to format your USB to the FAT 12,16 or 32 file system.

My 2300UB has a CD player but i only used it in the begining before i bought a Cruzer blade 32GB (matches the illumination :)) but i rarely use it now. Also by the looks of it, the 1400UB has 2 pre-outs for a sub (optional) which will come in handy for an easy setup.

To the OP, nice find, heat added accordingly, if mine was broken i would have gone for this at this price point

Yeah familiar with all that but was looking at the adapter for the control stalk but that's £30 odd. Not sure I will bother with that but yeah the kits for everything else are on Ebay at a fraction of the costs of Halfords own.

It does charge the iPhone while connected and it does indeed play through my in car speakers through the unit using the lightning connector. I'm glad I can help!

Wish you could get a dock or something to use these on a 240v supply indoors

Would be a really good small portable system (just add speakers!)

I bought an ex display one when they were £19.99 a couple of weeks ago in Halfords. Only fitted it the other day.......and am now removing it and putting my old pioneer back in.

Yes it has a bigger display, but shows no more as they've just made the characters bigger too. And i've always like Pioneer car Stereos but this one feels like VERY cheap plastic indeed.

Anyone want to buy a cheap ex demo stereo?
