Excellent deal

Hot. Remember to scan your receipt into your computer if you collect from store as it will be needed for the lifetime guarantee and they fade out over time because they are on thermal paper.

Great advice.

Good Price.

Ordered and Voted HOT.

Thanks

I got this set this time last year for £100. it's a great set for the price plus you cant go wrong with lifetime guarantee.

I had no idea socket sets cost so much!?!? I bought one from Halfords last year which was pretty big and cost me £20. Fair enough this will certainly be better, but for four and a half times the cost (or ten time the cost for RRP). Where does the extra below - this is a question not a criticism?

Anything that has the word "Professional" in , is not. The same goes for "Executive"

The term "Was £200" means that they charged £200 for it some time in the past, maybe just for a couple of weeks so they can make the claim,
I went in there last year to buy some bike lights, I saw a set that sells in other bike shops for about £25 marked up at £79!
A couple of months later they advertised them in a promotion, £29 "Was £79!"

The sockets will last longer - the edges will stay sharper giving better grip and they're unlikely to split open under a lot of pressure as those cheap ones you've bought will. Bars etc. will be much stronger and less likely to bend or snap. The cheap ones can go rusty too.

If you just tinker about with relatively light jobs and keep everything well looked after there's no reason a cheap set can't last a lifetime - start restoring cars or some real heavy jobs and you'll be left cursing as you take the skin off your knuckles when the socket slips or splits and your hand smacks into a nice hard lump of steel.

Good answer, thanks

Think I'll be fine with my own though as I don't think I have used them since buying last year

Not really hot because this comes up on a very regular basis (usually for a bit less than this).
If you miss it, no big deal because it will be back again soon.

Do they have an offer on the 200 piece set

£135 with code halfords.com/web…215

Got this at £89 the last time round. It's very heavy. Very well made & quite honestly I don't think I'll need any other mechanics tool as it seems to have everything.

Thanks very much

HOT Quality tools which last. I've just been using my Halfords Pro Socket set which is 25 years old and still as good as the day I bought it. I've bought other items from the range over the years and not seen any reduction in quality.

Been using this set on and off now for a few years, mostly with no issues. My only criticism would be the poor screw driver, with in a few months the handle had slipped.

Not tried returning it yet as I don't have the receipt any more, any one had any joy replacing with out one?

And email it to yourself with Gmail and a header title like 'Halfords Guarantee'. That way, a quick search and Voila!

You shouldnt need a receipt. I've exchanged a ratchet before without one

Very good tools. I just wish they didn't come with so many imperial sockets.!

Code doesn't work for me with 200 set.

shame no moving parts are covered by the lifetime guarantee ie ratchet mechanism. just something to be aware of when thinking of buying.

And that's exactly the parts that will break.

Trade card work with this?

What you have to remember is £80-£90 is the normal price and £200 is the inflated price to allow the supposed discount.

Yes, I am not sure I have particularly saved money since joining this site, as I have bought stuff that I convinced myself I needed when I clearly didn't.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

This is a brilliant price. Surprised it's not hotter. If you need a set as a DIYer you won't go far wrong getting this.
Got mine for £100 a few years ago as it's always on for that. Solid piece of kit. £200 is BS but £80 is a bargain.
Haven't needed to use the guarantee yet and doubt I will for a while.
