No more cheap nasty sets for me, if this snaps i get a quick replacement as they are very good for replacing halfords professional parts quickly for you at no charge!

Good deal have found there professional range is good so heat added!

fantastic quality tools, had mine 3 years now and still going strong

Hot deal from me, especially with the guarantee.

The Professional range is made by Sykes & Pickavant, if you know your tools you'll know that name means quality, in my opinion far better than Snap-on for warranty.

Check their warranty fine print tho, because i know my prof ratchet spanner set does not include moving parts..........................................

Agreed - Professional stuff is very good. Halfords own brand though is tosh, bought one and the ratchet kept sticking. They also used to do a Phase set for £10, I have that and it's very very good for the price.

Thanks, heat and rep.

ive had my snap-on tools for years & still get items replaced under warranty with no problems, i bought my first 3/8 drive ratchet from our local snap on dealer & its still going strong, ok ive had the guts replaced over the years, bit like Trigger with his brooms :-D

but i agree with Sykes Pickavant as well

Wrong their dude, as posted, ive snapped a few sockets and even twisted off the connector block trying to pry off the sump plug nut on my sisters mini which refused to budge (using my cheap socket set) the ratchet still works but the rest is fookered!

There is a problem with this box. The hinge will snap (only made of plastic) after a couple of years rendering the set useless. I won't buy again for this reason. Sorry guys/gals.

This has got to be the most stupid statement I have had the mis-fortune to read here , this place is full of fools with idiotic answers , your king of them all .

I've bought this set recently , £19.99 , it is superb .

Yeah thats right......once the hinges on the box break..............the whole set is rendered useless and you'll need to through them in bin, because you cannot use sockets that don't come out of a box. - thats a big no no.

This will be a perfect addition to my garage! I agree with the above though, "screw" that!

I shall clarify again, The moving parts within the ratchet is not lifetime warranty. The metal rod/sockets etc etc are. However, most of the time the ratchet part (the bit which goes click click click...) will be most likely to break.

for £15 yeah its good. but as said before, read the fine print which parts are replaceable and which isnt.

What price is this meant to be normally?

And for a staggering £4.29 you can buy the official halfords ratchet repair kit...for THIS ratchet. (or buy 3 repair kits for £8.58!!)
halfords.com/web…=-1

Even after buying that its cheaper than its RRP of £19.99+

Isn't everything metric now though?

The sockets in this set are metric.... Whats your point ??

You can easily break any ratchet if you abuse it. This is why the lifetime guarantee doesn't cover the ratchet mechanism, and its reasonable that it doesn't.
To first undo a nut/bolt or tighten it up you should use a sliding T Bar on the socket.... strangely this set doesn't include one.

Good price but as already stated, the lifetime guarantee sounds better than what it is.

Thanks for that totally irrelevant post..... it really made me laugh.

Thanks for the heads up, got my set reserved for collection tomorrow.
Just bought a Bahco socket set from Screwfix 2 weeks ago as well for £60. can't help buying quality tools.

Halfords Pro range is well respected.

Repped

I've had a Halford professional set pretty similar to this for over 15 years. The only bit that broke was the foam inside that sat in the lid. The hinges on the box are just moulded plastic and they're still going strong too...

I'd buy this set in a moment but the one I have is just fine.

Erm. Perhaps he means 1/4" drive?

METRIC??

Should read about 7mm Drive.

I used to be a Mechanic and bought a Kamasa set (£5 about 20 yrs ago.) when they were made in Japan and it has never faulted BUT 1/4 " drive sets get very little use in my experience. 3/8 drive are more popular and 1/2 drive are my mainstay.

Reserved thank you. I'll pop in tomorrow and use my trade card.
God bless bargains!!

Agreed 1/2 is the way to go but obviously for the smaller stuff 1/4 is needed, alot of the time when using a converter from 3/8 to 1/4 theres not enough room using the big ratchet or the conerter snaps.

Now THAT made me laugh. I didn't realise the hinge that holds everything together was totally irrelevant. Do you buy a sandwich box to carry them around or just a plastic bag? Not everyone has a case to carry all their tools in. Doh!

They are good tools and well worth the price, booked a set for collection. Great price to keep as spares! Thanks for posting.

I don't know why you are complaining that he ratchet isn't covered by warranty, but neither are the snap-on ones.

Yep, I bought a new BMW car a couple of years ago, but last week the windscreen wiper started to split! Anyway I drove the car to the scrapyard, hoping it wouldn't rain, and they were happy to take it off my hands!
