Would bricks or better equivalent do the same or this would be much safer? Thanks

I've got these and think a brick would be just as good. They're not particularly strong and have bent a bit. They do the job fine though. I was worried they could slide along the brick drive but they seem to hold fine.

This might be a silly question but why can't you just put the car in 1st gear with the handbrake on It can't roll can it?

The handbrake locks the rear, being in gear can lock the front on a FWD car, so in theory, all good, can lift either end.... Plenty of people have died testing that theory so it makes sense to have an extra layer of backup. (edited)

Might look daft and pointless but these can be a lifesaver. Plenty of people worldwide would have reaped the benefits by not living 6ft under.

Bricks or wooden blocks around the same size I find have served me perfectly over the years

Bricks are everywhere and cheaper than £6 but if these are what you want seems cheap enough to me

Never seen the word written down, always assumed it was 'chalks'. Chalks away! (edited)

These are good that they are low profile. Can't imagine them not slipping if the car was to move. I think I'd trust full rubber ones but I use brick usually.

Edit: didn't notice they had rubber base (edited)

SGS engineering do some nice rubber chocks for cars and a bigger better version for caravans, that I bought for cars.
Sadly I never was able to use them, as they were nicked along with lots of other tools. Now I don't keep/leave any tools or anything of value in a vehicle!
