Halifax Bank Free for sending money abroad

Sending money overseas is simple – you'll need the following information for the beneficiary account:

For payments to countries in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or to Bahrain, Monaco, Switzerland and United Arab Emirates (UAE), you'll need the BIC/SWIFT code and the IBAN (this replaces the account number).

For the rest of the world, the beneficiary name and bank details are needed.

To pay no fee, enter WINTERSUN in the promotion code field, if you’ve not sent money abroad online before

Hot! Before Xmas week I was shopping around and then cheapest I could find is Hifx which charges £9. Natwast charges between £11 and £25 depending on the country.

Halifax is cheapest for international transfer for EU. Used them several times online for transfers to France without any problem.

Barclays charge £25 for all countries - rip off merchants

Post Office does free international transfers.

sounds good. do they fleece you on the exchange rate?
although the post office is always very good for currency exchange for going on holidays.

Nope £15 for the EU.

I find CurrencyFair the best. They do charge for the transfer about 3 pounds but their exchange rate is so good that sending more than 50 pounds will cover the difference and sending even more will put you way ahead.
