Halifax Current Account £100 cash back to switch starting from 2nd Jan!

132
Found 27th Dec 2012
The £100 incentive to switch to a Halifax current account is back on from next Wednesday. A cashier at my local branch kindly advised my parents to wait til then before switching. I know this offer has ran in the past, but from what I could see, the last offer expired on 2nd Dec.

Added from mse....
Customers who switch to the banking giant between today and Sunday 3 March will pay nothing to use their overdraft for a year. They will also get a £100 sign-up bonus.

I agree, and the fiver per month is pretty good, as Palwan mentioned. Also, with first direct, you need to have an income of £1,500 per month to be eligible for the cashback.

The £5 per month is good, to note the terms and conditions are changing in May 2013, where you need to deposit £750 by BACS as oppose to the usual £1000 which currently you could do by bank transfer.

You also require two direct debits setup to get your £5 reward.

New terms are found on Halifax website.

Thanks..

From 1st May 2013, the Reward Current Account will only be available to customers who use it as their main bank account. To make sure you are doing this, you'll need to:
- have at least 2 different direct debits set up on the account and
- agree to fund the account with your salary or other credits (minimum £750 per month).

We’re also changing the way you qualify for the £5 reward on the Reward Current Account and the lower monthly fee on the Ultimate Reward Current Account. We'll give you a £5 reward/lower monthly fee each month if you:
- use it as your main account (fund with at least £750 and pay at least 2 different direct debits) and
- remain in credit.

If you don't do all of these things then you won't receive the £5 reward/reduced fee, but you’ll retain use of the other features of the account.

We are also increasing the fee free overdraft buffer on these accounts to £50. This means you will not pay any planned or unplanned overdraft fees on the first £50 you go into debit.

Been with Halifax for years and find them excellent

Same here, I have 2 current accounts, savings account, ISA, two children's savings accounts, a child trust fund, mortgage and home insurance with Halifax. Only our fixed rate savings aren't with Halifax as got better deals elsewhere.

Hi Rachel, where did you get your info in the post two up? The link directly above says £1000 a month, not £750, but it looks like you have a more current source?

So I take it that it needs £1k pm between Jan and May, then it will only need £750 ?

i switched last month no problems. £100 went in my account within a few days great!:D

will stick with hsbc never had any issues so wouldn chance it

Yeah still got my HSBC account too! Spent the £100 on more Hot Deals:)

@tapi Yes you are correct, fund £1000 from now until April , then £750 thereafter when the new terms kick in

@Forgottenshopper apologise for not providing a link earlier as was using my phone and only got to your message this morning

Does BACS still exist? I'm sure my pay comes faster payments now....

AVOID - Ridiculous changes to their overdraft T&C's mean they lost my business 2 years ago. Getting charged £1 a day for being 1p into your overdraft sealed it for me. Shocking.

How bout manage your money better and you won't have to be charged One big massive pound a day

This might sound silly but can I simply join Halifax get that £100 and close the account or not use it at all or am I obliged to use it say against my current HSBC?

Or say I keep my direct debits there for 3 months?

Does BACS still exist?

Well... yes.

BACS is still the default for transfers of large amounts at some banks, too, e.g. single payment transfers of greater than £10,000 from First Direct continue to go by BACS.

I'm wanting to know the same! Well how long have you got to stay with Halifax to get this £100? I've been with Lloyds for 14 years now but £100 seem ok for nothing.

Halifax? No thanks, and this is from someone with Santander :-P

Banned

bs you'll end up paying it all back and even more.

Can't find any mention that the credit needs to be a BACS payment from May 2013, I have three accounts with Halifax and switch my money around. All three accounts have direct debits so I shall carry on getting my £15 per month by the looks of it.

My accounts are never overdrawn and I've never had any problems with Halifax,

HSBC Marketing strategy: go fishing for students - by offering them good rates on debt - then, reap the rewards when they enter profession later on - by which time they are earning good salary and due to their loyalty and more so lack of inclination to switch accounts (not worth the hassle to high earners) they invest all of said accounts and offer incredibly little in return!

I'm yet to see a deal good enough to make me return to Halifax, shocking service.

My bank accounts change as much as my car insurance! I have no loyalty whatsoever :-( acc change first direct £100, halifax £100, halifax account use £60pa, Isa rate 4%pa - not really sure about poor service? is that in branch?? HSBC stopped providing UK staff jobs - outsourcing to a machine which objects to notes that are not perfectly flat....?! since that and the language barrier holding up counter staff I do it all online now

Tried to get money last time they had offer on. terrible customer service. Had around 3 grand in cash went in to bank. Took them nearly an hour of my time and then turned me down. Strange Bank. Mind you 15 years ago They would not give me a mortgage so went to another bank and got one. Not so bothered about being turned down just very poor untrained young girls in bank who had to keep calling on other staff because they did not know how the system worked. Might be a good bank for some but I found poor service.
