did exactly the same
maybe they should do more to keep existing customers who have been with them for years rather than offering incentives to new customers who will play the bank hopping game every 6 months

Is it every 6 months you can move on?
Just switched. Thanks OP. Disappointed with Santander not participating with Android Pay at it's launch. (and they've know about it for over a year)
Is the account that pays you £5 a month when in credit one of those in this incentive?
You must take advantage of these offers! I made a grand last year with a bit of effort and organising. Well worth it.

Question.
I have a Santander Current & Savings account.
If I move my current account, will the savings account close down as well ?
Can you do this with there normal current account with no rewards
Does the account you are transferring from have to have direct debits or can you use a spare account that's not in use?

yes it counts. as long as its a debit card
Taken from their front page :-

Use the Current Account Switch Service to transfer and close your old account held elsewhere. If you’ve had cashback for switching to us since January 2012 we’re sorry but you won’t get it again. Don't delay, offer ends 18th July 2016.

I know its in the offer above, but some peeps don't read it (i.e a friend who has just messaged me to tell me about it )

Think i may make use of some of this switching this year, but does it affect your credit rating at all?

Thank you
I've applied online, and while it said accepted it requires me to take verification documents to my local branch. Will this invalidate any option to switch and claim the £125?

It does affect your credit rating a bit. They dont advise to do it very often.
Wouldnt worry too much if you do it once a year.

It shouldnt they just want to check your documents for some reason.

Moved to them with the last £125 incentive. So far faultless, very happy. The instant transfer for paying other people is great without the need for a card reader
So as I am on a basic reward account with Halifax already. Is there a way for me to get this?

what they don't tell you is that constantly changing your bank account can negatively effect your credit rating...remember every time you do it,especially if its just for the cash, then it leaves a footprint and another search on your file. not worth it. Why should I move?? It's up to the bank to convince you to stay, that's why they employ retention teams

yes it does effect your credit rating, as multiple searches implies higher risk. General rule of thumb is not to have more than 3 in 6 months or 6 in a year

This means you have reduced level identification and there is not enough info held electronically for the bank to be happy to say they have fully verified your identity. If you also don't have the required i.d, you may still only qualify for basic facilities
If you want to stick with your current bank, like I did, just create a new account with them 1st. Then use it to switch. Then once you've moved that to Halifax, claimed you monies, use that to switch to the next incetivised account. You can make hundreds if you're organised. I did it in my name and my wife's. Did Halifax, First Direct, M&S, Yorkshire Bank and another I can't remember. It's really very easy but check carefully what each bank requires to claim the incentive. Good luck.
Are there minimum monthly payments required to get the reward?

Which banks give you the option of multiple current accounts or is it normal?

You need to put a certain amount in to the account every month - please correct me but I believe it is £800. This can be the same £800 every month and you can immediately remove it. Eg. You have another bank with HSBC with £800 in. Once a month you move that amount over then the move it straight back. As long as it registers you don't receive the charge - which I believe is £10 a month. If you meet that amount they give you £5.

I signed up recently and I took their holiday insurance, phone insurance and break down cover (from home) for £10 a month. So as long as I meet the above criteria they credit me £5 a month so the 'perks' just listed only cost me £5 every month which is a lot cheaper than standard iPhone 6s insurance and I've already used the breakdown so I'm quids up
