Very hard to find this pre-order anywhere not even Zavvi or Play.com have this on pre-order yet. This will fly off the shelves as its an anniversary edition. Base.com have it at a slightly higher price, so grab a bargain now before the mad rush, this is a great heads up, please vote hot

One of my favourite films, but you're mistaken if you think this will 'fly off the shelves'.
I have the original DVD and happy with that, it's an old horror film and needs the old, dark style. Not a remastered HD edition with some pointless extras.

£8.88 extra for a steelbook case. (_;)

You can always pop that in the recycling.

Great movie (unlike it's 42 sequels). But wickedly overpriced. Should be a fiver.

"firstaspect".....if you are happy with the ^^ dvd version ^^ then why comment negatively on a bluray post? Quadrille nice recycling comment, I may aswell put your comment in the trash whilst we`re on the subject.......People collect steelbooks, if it`s not your thing then scroll down....simples.... trolls and haters......you gotta love em

Now blu-ray has very quickly hit the bargain buckets, it seems film companies are desperate to claw back their investment and so market 'Steelbooks' as 'collectables'...just more scrap metal for you to get rid of in a few years I'm afraid!

...fools and their money eh...and I was one of those fools in the time of DVD (...got around 5000 of the buggers), not this time round though!!

#if you collect the right ones and sell at the right time then its clear to see on such sites as Play.com & Ebay that there`s a strong market out there and also if you`re lucky a profit to make. I take it when you had your 5000 dvd steels you didn't see a new format coming i.e Bluray ?

This one isn't £8.88 more. The 35th anniversary ed will have a new master, so the PQ should be better.

The DVD is currently up at £9.56: amazon.co.uk/Hal…ary

I agree completely . What the f**k are these people doing invading these threads if they aren't interested in steelbooks to start with. Quadrille - are you going to come out with the same sort of **** in every steelbook thread?! Get yourself a life mate.

Opinion is divided but I don't personally think there was anything wrong with the PQ to start with. (despite it not meeting with Carpenter's approval).

Dropped to £13.64 now...I've pre-ordered it as I was going to get the £5 amaray anyway but a remastered version with more extras is a good thing! Not Carpenter's best (The Thing is my favourite) but definitely a pinnacle of the slasher genre.
