This offer has been on 360 games for ages (but gets removed when i post it), it applies in Currys stores too.

what gets removed when you post? the offer instore at pcworld and currys?!

i don't think offers at global and national stores keep an eye on hotukdeals for your posts and change them at their whim to spite your posts!

unless your best friends with the ceo of dsgi, and he looks out for your posts and just to mess up your rep, he changes the offers!

if you go into one of the stores, get the cashier to scan halo 3 in, and ask them to see if there are any special offers under "customer offers button", that is the best way. normally they have a few selected titles under 2 for £60, not all games.

No, I believe rbentley is referring to a deal post here not the offer at DSG.

John

They dont advertise this instore? So do you just 'risk' it?

I love the fact that it's considered a "deal" when a game is £30. Weren't they just too expensive to begin with?
If Microsoft were serious about keeping up with Nintendo and wanted to bury the PS3 before it gets started they would make £29.99 the entry point for games. I know I've never paid more than that for any title and have no plans to buy either a 360 or PS3 until game's launch prices get a bit more realistic.

Still, decent deal. Even if it is DSG.

You know we do not allow self-promotion on the forums. If you have an issue, feel free to take it up with admin using the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page.

rusty I was a bit like you but if you have a plasma or lcd tv which I have, i bought the 360 and the graphics are worth it. Btw people were queing up for halo3 at midnight round the country this week for it. so you might want to tell microsoft that its priced to high at 39.99.

The price of games isnt too bad IMO - 30-40 hours gameplay minimum (online and stuff), and then sell on the game for 20-25 squid?

40 hours for 15-20 quid? - not too bad me thinks.

No one's forced to buy games at £40, they do it because they want to...

I wait till the games are a few months old for their first price reduction ;-)

Mind you, I've still only got an Xbox and am quite happy getting games for a pound in WH Smiths or £2 in Blockbuster nowadays :-o

But if I had an Xbox360, £30 would be my limit.

/back on topic
thanks for this
I voted hot and going to my local one tonight to try and get two copies for me and a mate..

Has anyone successfully got one/two? I'm tempted to do a run in my lunch hour but don't want it to be a wasted journey.

what other titles are included in the deal?

fitzybhoy

what other titles are included in the deal?

All 360 games.

ooh!

I may pop down tomozx and get two skates!

Hate to be the voice of doom & gloom but.............

PC World can be very selective with these deals. When posted in the past my local used to only apply it to a list of 10 "selected" games. Games very recently released were usually excluded.

Other PC World stores have done it with any game whilst others denied all knowledge of the promotion completely.

If you're going to make a special trip to PC World and its out of your way - I'd telephone them first......

I went to PC world in Norwich and was told the deal did not include Halo 3.

And just 5 minutes ago someone I work with came back from lunch and had picked it up along with Blue Dragon for £60 from the same store. So I was going to buy it from Asda but was told its not released until tomorrow, they have it in stock they just cant sell it yet.....

My Mate has just got back from PC World in Plymouth, the lady told him there was no offer on the Halo 3, he made her check on the till... low and behold it showed 2 copies of Halo 3 for £60 :-D

So I've now got a copy of Halo 3 on its way to me :-P

what people don't realise these days is the increased amount of effort spent in designing the game, and promoting it.

£40-45 per decent game is about the right price. Back in the early 90's, new releases on the Atari ST retailed for around 19.99 to 24.99, and thats roughly 15 years ago. Factoring in inflation, plus in those days games were alot less spectacular...

Not true really. Then and now, designers are constrained by the machines they're writing for, so while a 90s game looks poor, it still wou,d push the technology of the time to the same level as a game now pushes the technology now.

The real point is the amount spent on game development. That has increased massively.

Factor in all the staff, designers, artists, programmers, writers, voice actors, etc and there are so many people working on just one game for 1-2 years, all of whom need to make a living.

However, I just got my 360 in the last 2 months and am enjoying the earlier titles at knock-down prices or am trading in my old PS2 and XBox games. My newest games are GRAW2 and GOW, both of which I got thru part-ex and credit slips from handing over XBox games.

The only time I 'paid' for a game with cash this year was SC:DA for under £14 at Tesco.

Not a bad deal at all http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/style_emoticons/default/st2.gif

none at all at my local PC World and the staff in Currys looked at me like i was mental!

wasted journey here :-(

I'll give it a try tomorrow with FIFA 08

wasted jounery aswell, no sign of any 2 for £60 in 2 PC worlds round here

People - you need to ask them to check it on their tills. Don't just walk in , look around and see no promotion about the offer. Take 2 games to the til and ask them to do a price scan.

If you don't do that then you possibly won't get the offer. I hope it's still on when PES 2008 comes out in a few weeks.

I just bought 2 copies of Halo 3 from PC world in Moorgate for £60.
It's not advertised but exists for all titles i believe..

Think im going to try this with FIFA tomorrow

Tried it myself in chester today, no mention of offers, the guy on checkout thought I was having a laugh but checked the offers on the till and it came up, well chuffed thanks OP

I did the same, went down there today, no mention of it, staff said offer had finished ages ago, so asked woman on till to check and bobs you uncle, 2 copies for £60. Me and my mate both chuffed!

Don't forget to ask for student discount (10%) if you have a NUS Extra card and really want to push it

which version of halo, ? bog standard or collectors? ED?

which version of halo, ? bog standard or collectors? ED?

Standard edt!

I too went instore at pc world braehead in glasgow, and looked for the promo, couldnt even see halo 3!
Then i spoke to one of the most UNHELPFUL staff members in the world who kinda pointed in the direction of the halo 3 stand.
When i asked him is it in the 2 for £60 offer he shrugged n said "dunno" i said well WHO would know, as he pointed at the till! Priceless!!
So i took 2 copies of halo 3 over to the till, the woman was ready to scan them just as normal, so i said can i check and see if these are in the 2 for £60 offer.
She said that 2 of the same game wouldnt be, so i said i seen it on their website but forgot to print it, and that someone i know had got the same deal at another pc world.
So she turns the screen round to me with all the 360 offers, as if to say look its not here, then i said scroll down , low and behold there was the 2 for £60 offer, she said oh yeh, but watch it wont take 2 of the same game.

Oh REALLY??.................

ASK for this offer it DOES work!
Heat & Rep added, Big thanks to the OP!!!!

Ok - here is what happened to me:

Take 2 different games to till and ask if they are 2 for £60. Get told "I will check" by the cashier - at which point the manager standing by the till (inconveniently) says "That was a bank holidayu offer ages ago - not now!". He walks off to call head office... in the mean time the cashier scrolls through all the deals on the till - one of which was "2 for £60".

She selects in and scans the 2 games - it worked. Manager comes back dumfounded and says "Tha offer shouldnt be on there - its expired. Head office said so. I will let you have it but no more..."

Head office now aware of this 'mistake' (not my fault he was standing there). It shouldnt be happening so get in there QUICK before they remove it from their systems.

Oh - and the Hedge End store was the one they will stop doing this at now.

was still advertised in my store - only last week

That manager didn't know what he was talking about.

This offer is meant to be on there, in fact staff were told by head office to try and convert customers buying Halo 3 at £39.99 to buy any other (or same) game for an extra £19.99.

The big thing is ask in store, take the games you want to the checkout and ASK them to check. Went into PCWORLD in Chester at 7.30 tonight and got Halo and MOH for £60. Voted hot as I wanted MOH but as others have posted here did not want to pay anymore than £30.....

Popped into PC World, but couldn't find another game worth buying with Halo 3 to make it worthwhile. So didn't bother checking to see if the offer was on.

im gonna have to back up pcworld staff here - because i am one, most are not unhelpful but try their best. maybe that chappy came across an unhelpful staff member, maybe.........but most try their best despite ridiculous demands from customers at most ridiculous times.

there is not one single member of staff who will know every single offer available to customers instore, for example there is 3.5m usb printer cable which available at £24.99, but when you press the customer offer button, £11.99. many offers in store which one or two people know about.

the "unhelpful staff" probably couldnt be bothered to walk a customer across the shop floor to point out the halo 3 stand, the only place to check the prices is at the tills anyway, best place to get price checks

I don't know where all these PC World guys are getting their info from but here's all the info on this deal as of 27/09:

All standard price games are included, i.e. £30 and up (would be a little silly having £15/20 games in the deal wouldn't it...?) with the exceptions of:

Guitar Hero II
Halo 3 Limited Edition
Halo 3 Legendary Edition

Note that Forza Motorsport (the only other £49.99 RRP game) is included in the deal.
This deal includes all games being released tomorrow 28/09/07 i.e. Fifa 08, Skate, Sega Rally.

The deal has been running for a couple of months now and as far as I'm aware there is currently no scheduled end date. It was brought in for a promotion which the company then decided to continue indefinitely.

As others have said, you must ask for this deal at the till - I've not seen any store that promotes it anymore but it still exists. If the cashier says no deal exists ask them to scan it and check if there are any customer offer's on it anyway - lo and behold, the 2 for £60 offer will be listed.

Also, I'm a bit surprised that Halo 3 has sold out in any store - the standard edition anyway. 30,000 of the standard edition were released, 500 of the Limited Edition, and 1450 of the Legendary (I don't think any Legendary actually made it to stores though, or very few at least). I guess some stores got considerably less than others.

EDIT: Just thought I'd mention that when BioShock and Blue Dragon were released, they were both added to the offer the day before release but were removed from the offer on release day. They went back on though the day after so probably just a little mixup, but bear in mind if buying any release games tomorrow.
