is this good quality? im after a sturdy tripod....i got a cheap off ebay lasted about a day before snapping..

also this price at tesco direct

tesco.com/dir…prd

I've got an older Hama and it's been excellent. Not professional quality I'd guess, but for use a few times a month, perfect for me.

Good even as a backup! Cheers!

I bought one of these after christmas and I paid double the price. The only thing to be aware of is, that if you add a larger lense it may become top heavy and may topple over.

It does have a hook below to add weight. I like mine its lightweight and comes with a bag.

Got one a couple of months back... Yes, excellent value for money

If you must buy one of these use the timer on your camera to take a photo. Touching your camera mounted on one of these = wobble. Tripods are there to provide stability- the build quality on these isn't good enough.

For £10.50 i'll give it a go. Got to be better than the little gorillapod I have at the moment.

Thanks OP and kittypink81... I bought it from Tesco as I could pick it up from the store saving on those missed deliveries.

Need the tripod for some light photography I've been experimenting with... Hope it will be better then using the kitchen worktop to balance the camera on!

yeh I have a hama nothing wrong with it

Great find! Very HOT, thanks!!

Lovely!
Ordered.

Wife wont be pleased!

Ok for a compact or low end slr/dslr thats about all, i wouldnt trust anything of value on it and i'd take the 4000g limit with a pinch of salt.

I have one of these and sharp's comment sums it up. Currys used to sell this at £60.00 when i worked there 2 years ago...£30 when you buy with any digicam/camcorder slr

Broke my last tripod! Thanks OP! II should really stop buying so much camera equipment though..

Ordered! Thanks.

I'm amazed at the number of Tripods listed on HUKD every few days it seems, am I missing out on another way of using them other than photography??

Ordered - excellent price. For just over a tenner it's got to be worth a go. Thanks

can anyone suggest an alternative that is stronger but still light enough to carry around but is also affordable

Ordered THANKS ...

Paid £14 last week for this. OK quality, no good for video use as the action on the swivel parts is not smooth.

can someone suggest me a tripod that is meant to be for mobile phones? (up to 4.7")

Can I ask, why are there two metal pins/screws on the head, my NEX-5N only has the one mounting screw?

Ordered as a back up, thanks for sharing.
Sure it's not the best made tripod around, but then it's £10 and a whole lot better than overpriced Gorillapod rubbish.
Re. the double screw, you only need to use the center one on your NEX.
Excellent price.

I've got the same tripod and a 5n there is a mounting screw and the other is sprng loaded that presses down when you connect the camera. Not sure on its use maybe larger cameras have an extra hole that it springs into to stabilise it further

Thanks guys, that clears that up then; I take it the other pin dosen't haper/damage the NEX at all?

This tripod will be fine for indoor use, or short exposures outdoor. For longer exposures, i.e. at night, it will be next to useless unless there is no wind AT ALL! I used to have one of these years ago and it's pretty wobbly so even the slightest of breezes will set it moving.

Nope it is fine. I found the same thing on my NEX-5R the other day. On my old SLR the smaller pin pushed into a small hole which isn't on the NEX's. Either way it doesn't matter as because it is spring loaded it just gets pushed down when you put the main screw in and doesn't damage the body of the NEX.

As Joe said, it doesn't damage or scratch your NEX at all, I'm OCD about keeping everything mint and I used it for ages with my 5N, stuck a tiny bit of masking tape on the head of the extra screw just to be sure! As I said OCD.
Enjoy it.

Another useful comment which we can all benefit from. Which charity shop was it I'll go and get one!

Doesn't seem much point in spending good money on a dslr only to risk damaging it on something like this.

If you want an excellent tripod from a manufacturer who doesn't take the p**s with prices then you could a lot worse than RED SNAPPER (no affiliation other than being a very happy customer) they make premium quality pro standard tripods and heads at a fraction of the price of the "trendy" manufacturers because they are made by photographers for photographers.

Its just for video cameras, no DSLR will have it. Most tripod quick release systems allow you to unscrew the pin but that may not be the case for this model. Hope that helps

It was probably a disabled charity, hence his tripod only came with 2 legs...joke btw!

Ordered one r&c from tesco today as mentioned by kittypink81's post #1 - still in stock at tesco direct.
I've had one of these for a year maybe and it's far,far better than one I got from Aldi/Lidl a few years back.
