is this suitable for sony a200 dslr camera? thinking of a present for someone who owns one. Thanks

You get what you pay for and these are very cheap and nasty tripods. The head does not pan or tilt smoothly so it's nearly impossible to frame the sceen exactly and it wobbles like a jelly in anything more than a light breeze.
Someone gave me one once and I was over the moon to get rid of it on ebay for a fiver though I did feel sorry for the poor sod that bought it.
This is probably the best price for this piece of tat but some things are not worth buying no matter how cheap and this is one of them - cold from me.

I shall translate: "its perfectly fine for light use, but be careful not to be too rough as plastic bits can break and legs can bend".

Not for a pro but should be fine for an A200 taking family photos. Again, light use really - say a few times a month but by no means is this a piece of 'tat'.

I use a *similar* one with my A200 and it will work fine with any camera that has a standard tripod screw mount (nearly all cameras).

It is true that it will shake very easily in wind (not a breeze) but I can't complain about the one I have I have many many good shots with it's help and they are usually extremely light to carry too. If you don't have the top (centre post) extended all the way up it is more stable.

Personally £9 is nothing for a tripod. In a way you get what you pay for but it will do what most people will want fine. No it won't match a £100 tripod by any means but I doubt anyone is stupid enough to think that anyway. :-D
