What's this like on car engine bays??

Not good

A good price for a handheld steamer with 3 yeat warranty thanks for the post

has anyone used one of these and can recommend it?

I've got one, it is not very good.

In my experience, they're all crap. They're just not powerful enough to be any use, have tried 1600W as well.

I had one and it broke it a day. They did refund it, but it was a pain having to go back to the shop.

£14.99 at home bargains, for something similar.

Something similar, I have one.

Lidl products are of a quality that make you want to go back to the shop again.

Brilliant sweeping statement.

Bought one of these last time they were out, I have done all the tiles in the my shower, bathroom, kitchen, cleaned the oven and the tiles floors. I even leant it to by dad to do his bathroom and my nan to do their whole kitchen. I found this to be good build quality and works great. Yes, it could have more attachements and probably a hottter steam jet so you need to put in a little more elbow grease but I found this to be a great product. Heat added

Hopefully this will be better than the cheap steam cleaner I got from Asda a few years ago, the steam jet on that was so pathetically weak you could safely put your hand in it.

Serious question as I'm thinking of one of these but is all steam not the same temperature? i.e water boils into steam at 100c

Paul - yes, steam is (roughly) the same temperature. The difference between the cheapy steam cleaners and the sensible ones is steam PRESSURE - much like a steam iron Vs a steam generator iron. Imagine using your kettle (which is still steam at 100*C) to clean the oven. It'd still be a chore, as there's no pressure behind it, allowing it to penetrate the crap you're trying to lift.

The Karchers get good reviews - I've seen both the smaller and the larger industrial models on here as being reduced at TESCO (£25 and £50 ish respectively). Might be worth holding out for another round of reductions on those.

You can continue heating steam after it has become vapour, i'm not sure if a cheapo thing like this would do so, but in principle steam doesn't have a contant temperature.

APM- Any machinery that uses steam to run uses high pressure "super heated steam". As above I suspect these things are unlikely to do this, but it is incorrect to say steam is always 'roughly' the same temperature.

I have a VAX steam mop for the floors and that works great! Not sure if I'm going to go for this after hearing some of the reviews. Is it really that bad?

Got one a while ago. Works well enough for the price.

Whats hot and is hot but should be cold..........................you guessed it this deal.

I posted a deal a few weeks back for a Morphy Richards 2-in-1 steamer, honestly the Broccoli was still raw...

Joking apart, the useless thing didn't even have the pressure to remove a 2 day old toothpaste mark from my sink, let alone think about cleaning tiles. The other point to note is in the instruction manual it specifically stated (in bold, red, underlined text) to ONLY use DISTILLED or DE-IONISED water and that failure to do so would void the warranty and cause failure through limescale.

I returned it the following day.

Or just a funny joke.

I use one of these to take off window tints and if there's dirt on car seats use it for that as well.

Here's a video I did last week showing how dirty my mothers seats were off the bairns, so give them a quick once over, really happy with the result.

I bought one from Lidl. It looks different to the attached. Transpires it was made by Pifco, which is a good brand.
