Hannspree is not one of the big names buts its not a unknown company really.i have had one of their monitors for 7 years and its been excellent.
Not sure what you mean by lack of Roms? Resolution could be higher but for a £99 10" tablet its not surprising and still very usable
Running a slightly older version of Android but wont really effect the operation.

overall looks good value for money if you need a 10" tablet for the price of or even less than 7" ones.

ROMS like Rooting you know Custom ROMS things like that, I would assume it has less.

and yeah it looks good value for money thanks

Ahh i see,I root my phones but never really considered doing a Tablet, Your right i will be surprised if anyone has done a custom Rom for this.

You'd be surprised. A lot of the obscure rockchip based tabs get custom roms. Check out slatedroid or arctab forums

I had the previous model for 2 years - heavy , robust and reliable

Custom rom support was good - I got from 2.3 to 4.0
It was a tegra 2 device and I had to downgrade the youtube app at the end because of stupid video in corner feature
Ran fine with Youtube app 4.0
Bought it for £96 and sold it for £32 last week

if you look after this and get it to Kitkat, I bet you will get £40 ish 18months from now

COCO

Having just bought the Yarvik one from Game for £69.99, I'm wondering if these two are very similar. It runs very nicely, but the screen and WiFi are quite big let-downs, could that be the same here?

Hannspree is most definately NOT unknown brand name...
Edited by: "Gollywood" 18th Apr 2014

They are reasonably well known. But having experienced their customer service I won't be buying any of their stuff again.

Can anyone tell me if it compares to that - amazon.co.uk/gp/…294

I really want a good screen but don't want to pay more than £100

just bought one to try..thanks for posting.

Hanspree have or had a store in Brent Cross shopping centre. been around for a while. far from unknown.

both this and the link he gave are 10 inch

The whole point of a tablet is portability and availability. 6 hour battery life is likely that it's just left standing. In use you're only likely to get about 4 hours out of it ?

I have a tablet and because of the constant charging, I hardly use it anymore. I wish somebody could produce a tablet with the battery life of a kindle.

1.Old previous models on this site ( Tegra 2 model)
2.Slow, better if it used A9 dual core
3.Hannspree is not unknown brand, not very well know in the UK

1280x800 is so yesteryear. I would expect at least Full HD at this size, and you can even get more (although it will of course cost a little).

Actually the Nook HD+ would be a good alternative. Only 9", no camera, but better resolution, and you can run the latest Cyanogenmod software.

That is a bargain - do you mind if I list it here?

Really worth paying a little extra to get the retina display

My understanding is that the retina display tablet, due to big resolution, is likely to struggle when playing games.
Not sure though.
The reviews are all 5*.

Came here looking for a update to my original Hannspad. Picked up a fault with the charging system. It basically melted a 32GB card:-(. That Polatab Elite looks very interesting.....

On second thoughts I'll wait for the Polatabs cpu/gpu upgrade.

I'll have to agree/second that of EVERYONE else thats spoken of Hannspree in a favourable light .. yes, Hannspree may NOT be as 'Well known' as your Sumsung's, your LG's, & your Lenovo's out there in terms of 'Touch Devices'?, but for the sake of putting Hannspree into a more realistic 'Time-Line Perspective' is this .. wayyyyyy back in 2009/2010 when iPads Cost a pretty packet, & the 'ORIGINAL' Samsung Galaxy Tab wasnt too far off ('Cost-Wise'?), Hannspree Android-Powered 'Touch-Tablets' were all over the Net on the likes of Amazon .. Hannspree Shock, & Hannspree G-Shock (if I recall 2009/2010 on Amazon well?) .. & the 'Specs' for the Hannspree back in 2009/2010 were out of this **** World (by 'Yesterdays Standards anyway?), 3D Game Play, HDMI-Out Capabilities, & ..... blah, blah, blah?, & all for ONLY between £120 - £150 a piece! (considering the 'Average' Samsung Galaxy Tablet back then 'Averaged' for BETWEEN £400 - £500 **** Quid! .. iPads 'Averaged-Out' at the time of BETWEEN £800 - £1000!! .. but thats 'Another Story' .....) - I SERIOUSLY thought I was in 'Android Heaven'!! .. ahhhhhhhh ..... the memories of 'Yester-Year' ..... lol. :-)

The Hannspad SN10T did rock though. Will have see if I can find out what's causing the overheating issue, and get the soldering iron to it . The Hannspad was my first tab and the first tab I ever took a chance and rooted. Would be a shame to let it gather dust when it still has its good points. Old but sturdy. For a camera-less tab it was way overpriced back in the day but the moment they dropped the price down to £150-ish they flew off of ebuyer shelves.

Hannspree is one of the big names if you know where to look.
Edited by: "Loui" 19th Apr 2014

Is this any good? it has the same spec as the hannspree, but it's £10 cheaper (£89.99). Fulfilled by Amazon

Not paying attention today are you.
It's a 9.7" screen.
The resolution at 2048 x 1536 is vastly superior to the Hannspree.
The retina display is considered one of the best available.
It has 2gb DDR3 SDRAM which is twice as much as the Hannspree
A 1.6ghz quad core cpu but I can't find exactly which processor it is.
A slightly more up to date Android 4.2.2
It has bluetooth which the Hannspree makes no mention of.

So on paper it is a much better product and the only advantage the Hannspree has a slightly screen.

jdbigguy.
The retina display tab is believed to be a false economy because the cpu is too slow for the huge resolution.

A lot of posters who seem to know a thing or 2 about tablets are really laying into the tablet for the above reasons.

Thought I'd comment on this tablet, as we recently purchased one at this price from Asda. Unless it can be rooted and the software changed like the older models, I would avoid this one despite the apparent 'good' specification. The build of the unit looked solid enough, apart from the plastic screen. The display resolution was really grating at this size of tablet and the 'quad core' cpu had worse performance than old dual core tablets. There were times it behaved fairly well but the laggy response was too much to bear and we returned it for a refund. It also took an age to charge and had one instance where it wouldn't turn on at all despite being charged.

Some people with knowledge of rooting and changing software may get some mileage out of it (but then I would have thought they would rather a better spec of tablet if technically minded). As a general user, I'd stay clear of this one. I took the mixed reviews on board before purchasing it but I felt it a waste of £99.

Whilst I agree in general, a retail product is a different matter.

Great price, unfortunately I am upgrading from a Xoom and need something with a bit more 'under the bonnet'.

bought! anyone know a cheap case that's any good?

alison791

I have this tablet and for the price great

have you got a case?

They're selling a 10" Hanspree (and 7) in Asda atm, big product displays and such, but its £140 (or 130). Anyone know if that is the same model?
