Supposedly not good on battery life and no Kitkat but for the price, you can't really complain.

I've had one of these. When you first get it it will do some updates. Big ones! After its done these do a factory reset or it will just run so slow. Trouble is unless your prepared to do lots of resets within a few weeks it will slow down again. I had to take mine back in the end but at this price I could live with it. Got HDMI out, showbox, Videomix, it's all the TV you need ;-)

I was told for a quad core there really slow

Viewing angle is awful, but you can't moan for £50 odd quid for the kids to throw around.

Bought it this time Last year, and was a VERY nice Tablet...for a couple of weeks until the OTA update in January that turned it in to a soddin DOOR STOP. Different people were experiencing different problems, such as it wouldn't power up,or mega slow,or the Camera wouldn't work...perhaps when you turned the screen the picture wouldn't change, so no ONE fault but a NUMBER of different faults, and 1 of then (the Camera I believe) Hannspree had to admit they couldn't fix...at the time. Bought it from ASDA at £129,and sorry to say returned to them sometime in February without fuss (problems were ALL over Facebook, on Hanspree page) I hope they got this Tablet sorted...GOOD LUCK

Good Find. Hot.

Bought for granddaughter might save my tablet from seven year old. Do people think keep original or allow update

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's the same model or specifications as this 'HANNspree 10.1 inch 16GB Quad Core Android 4.1 Tablet with HD IPS Screen, 1GB RAM, HDMI Output' please? Reasons being that it was purchased for approx. £150.

They do a range of tablets with similar specs.

hannspree.eu/en/…ets

Thank you for your reply. To be honest I'd already seen them but I still can't tell whether the difference in price is due to better quality of tablet or whether it is the same/does the same. It's sooooo complicated.

Has anyone bought this?

Is it a good tablet or not?

While it's a good price, there are comparatively better tablets at this price, such as the 2012 Nexus 7 / Memopad HD7, that would warrant a purchase over this really. I know people will say "for the kids" but surely a smaller, faster tablet like the 2012 Nexus 7 would benefit them more than this? If you really need 10" (so to speak), the Gigaset QV830 at Currys often pops up refurbed on eBay for around £59 too.

I had this make of tablet when it first came out years back and the only real alternative then was the ipad. I paid £150 for mine and ipad was something like £350 at the time and I can honestly say it was (and still is I still have it - as well as Hudl 2 now) a cracking tablet.

I rooted mine almost straight away and after that it was great and I used it almost every day and one day I was showing a customer some photos and he said he wished he had saved his money and bought one instead of his ipad as at the time the ipad was limited with stuff like not being able to put an SD card in etc

Well I've ordered one but won't be here for a bit yet. I know a lot of people will say "well there are better tablets for the price" but the thing is there are VERY few (if any) better 10" tablets around for even close to this kind of price (at least if you want to buy new) and as I needed a 10" tablet this was an obvious choice for me, though yes I am concerned about the number of negative reviews it gets but at ~£50 price range and 10" size there isn't a whole lot of choice out there, so I'm gonna hope for the best with this one.

Bought a similar Hannspree tablet with 3g for 100 quid (was a hotukdeal) and it totally failed after a couple of months. Random, glitchy lines all over the screen when you tried to turn it on. Got replaced with the same model and developed the exact same problem within a couple of months again. Wouldn't buy another. Shame because when they worked, they worked really well, and had great specs for the price/time

Hot. Ordered 2 for kids

They ARE slow but decent-ish certainly for this price

Bought one for just over £80 from ebuyer 2 months ago as a gift,
Bought it after seeing good reviews on youtube,
The specs seem decent on paper but it's a really rubbish tablet,
Full of glitches and slow, viewing angles are poor, couldn't play 720p movies without freezing and stuttering ( even basic phones can play these files without problems) not sure if it's the chip or the screen which couldn't keep up.
The first day it was used it turned off and couldn't turn on again. Waited a few hours it booted up ok.
Not sure if it's still working because I haven't asked, the person I gave it to haven't mentioned it.
I wouldn't buy another even at this price, I would spend more or buy a branded 7" tablet instead.
Rant over!

gotta be worth a punt surely

It WAS a nice tablet last year before
the OTA update in early January, but as a result of that update I had to return it to ASDA but (unlike customers of a certain TV Shopping channel) my return was processed without any fuss,as ASDA's returns policy on this item was A1 .And the cost this time last year? £129 from ...(Drum Roll please) ASDA . I now have a Nook HD+ at UNDER £70,thanks to INCREDIBLE Customer service from of Barnes & Noble, incredible when you consider I bought the Tablet from an ebay business seler

The OP tablet from ASDA has all the specs you mention. So did the one from idealworldtv, but iwTV shifted it at £205 with a free stand ( that appears to be an unusually expensive free stand).

So, it's the bad OTA update that causes the tablet to be so slow then? I thought it was strange people say it runs so slow as the specs suggest at least decent performance (quad core CPU, 1GB RAM, fairly modest resolution for the GPU to power) so could it be the software that hobbles it?

Is there anyway to decline the OTA updates, or even disable them altogether?

Although this would mean being stuck on an earlier version of Android but I believe it ships with 4.1?, which is still reasonably well supported, for now at least.

Hello, I also wanted to ask

What is the latest version on it? After all the OTA updates ?

Any tips or advice? Thank you

Yes, I ordered one on Saturday, hasn't arrived yet, so trying to ascertain before it comes, whether I should decline the OTA updates (if you can) to keep the tablet performing well?

Exactly. I will NOT update the OTA.

Hopefully Tuesday will be picking it up.

Let me know how you find it and how it performs. Really hope it's not as bad as some people say

Thank you that's just what I needed to know.

Picked them up today. Excellent value. Big screen. Sound is excellent. Thanks OP

Anybody got one of these yet and care to provide any further feedback?

I got mine today, it comes with Android 4.1.1 out of the box. It hasn't prompted me to update yet and the things I've heard about the update I most probably won't.

Quite pleased so far. The screen is probably the best thing about it, big bright and colourful, fantastic for the price. Performance is ok-reasonable. It doesn't feel as fast as the Ployer Momo20 I bought it to replace (sadly the screen on the momo20 got cracked) but then the Momo20 had double the RAM and a (I believe) faster A31 quad core cpu.

The Hannspree felt a bit jerky moving around a large farm in Hay Day and sometimes was a delay in performing certain actions in the game, where as the momo20 had no problem with this. The Hannspree seems perfectly smooth in most common match 3 style casual games though like monster busters, cake mania etc.

The only other slight issue is the way they partitioned the 16GB storage seems a bit unusual in that the system partition is only 1GB, while the secondary (called USB) partition is 12GB. As all games and apps will install to the system one by default, you will fill it up very quickly though I believe you can move at least some of the app/games files to the secondary partition. In the long run it's still going to be a juggling act trying to keep enough of the 1GB system area free to avoid it grinding to a halt....

Still, this issues pale into relative insignificance when you consider the price paid, undoubtedly it is a lot of tablet for the price.

As its running 4.1.1 should I be worried about Heartbleed Vulnerabilities?? The Hannspree website says there are updates to 4.2 but the build numbers on mine don't correspond to the download, have emailed their tech support to see what they say. It seems sturdy and picture and sound are great, well impressed for price, happier if I can glitch free update to 4.2 or more.
