This is a fantastic software that is not a resource hog and keeps an eye on your HDD & SSD. There is a new 5.50 version but this will still do the job.

Bitsdujour have been around for a long time - email address is needed for registeraing you will need to unsubscribe if you dont want daily offers.

Hard Disk Sentinel monitors and analyzes your hard disk and solid state drives, giving you valuable feedback on the health of the drive, any performance degradations, and warning of impending failure. With Hard Disk Sentinel, you'll be able to find, test, diagnose, and even repair disk drive issues before they escalate to catastrophic status.

And you won't have to worry about getting overwhelmed with a bunch of technical babble -- Hard Disk Sentinel gives you an easily understandable description of what's going on, and offers tips on how to proceed! A laundry list of alerts and reports gives you the ultimate flexibility to determine how close you wish to monitor your drives, letting you safeguard your data at all times.

Unlike some other titles on the market, Hard Disk Sentinel is a complete monitoring solution. There's no need to purchase other tools in order to verify internal hard disks, external hard disks, SSDs, or disks in RAID arrays!

What kinds of info do you get with Hard Disk Sentinel? How about temperature, and the ability to view S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) data, a feature built into the latest disk drives. There's also real-time monitoring of disk transfer speeds, an important indicator of a failing hard drive!

I'm and IT engineer and have ben using Hard Disk Sentinel for 10 years. It's absolutely fantastic and never known it to be wrong! Also monitors SSD lifespan and tells you how many writes your SSD has done and how much life it has left. Highly recommend. The website seems a little suspicious however no card details are required so why not! Mine came through fine. Thanks!
It still works - when that notification pops up just close it, click 'get it for free' and it will list a number of options that include the discounted pro/family versions and also lists the free one. Add to basket, add your email address and checkout. Done!

Waiting for download link since no downloads are possible from download page.
Worked thanks for Sharing.
The landing page says too many downloads from this link. Strangely, on hdsentinel.com there is no mention of the free offer.

In my case it worked, you get the download link by email, click on Get it Free Now, on the next page you have 3 links, select the 3rd showing as $0, that will add it to the basket, you will need to tegister or login, when completed you will get the download link by email

It worked for me by automatically applying a 100% off coupon
Note as well that you don't need any licence key or anything, so once you've downloaded the installer exe on one device you can share it across your network to use again on your other devices. No need to 'purchase' multiple times.
Thanks you so much, I love this software!

Will this uninstall cleanly if one decides that it is just more bloat on the system?

So don't use your real address. If you used Blur then you would have unlimited throwaway addresses
Thanks @fizz

I might pay for upgrade later £20 if this is any good. Just to support development.
Thanks
BitsDuJourFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BitsDuJour is a website that promotes desktop software through daily deals marketing methods. The website promotes Macintosh and Windows software applications that are discounted through use of a coupon code which allows purchase of the software application directly from the software developer's website. Promotions typically last twenty four hours, although the promotions may be extended for an additional twenty four hours.

BitsDuJour, was founded by Ellen Craw and Jennifer Clarke in March 2006.[1] The website initially launched with one deal every day for PC software, and the first deal was for MailWasher Pro, an e-mail filtering software application.

In August 2007[2] Nico Westerdale of Iconico, Inc. purchased BitsDuJour and re-launched the website. In December 2010[3] the website started to offer software for the Apple Mac. The launch coincided with a promotion for a Cross-Platform Software Bundle of ten applications that run on both the Apple Mac and Windows platforms.

BitsDuJour often runs promotions at 100% Off, essentially giving away the software application for free. They have given away over a million[4] pieces of free software since inception.

In June 2010[5] BitsDuJour won the Best ISV Service Award at the 19th annual Software Industry Conference held in Dallas, Texas.

I use it on my HP NL40 microserver to monitor HDDs
What actually happens when an SSD gives out? Do you get warning? Can you usually recover your data? I find 90% of the time you can with GetDataBack with non-SSD drives.
How safe is this software to download and use? I'm a paranoid computer novice
Updated it inside the app and now it's asking for a registration key? Pretty sure they've just uploaded a cracked one for your emails.

Its because you updated it.
When you installed this free version a window popped up explaining that it is pre-registered and you can use it for as long as you like BUT you cannot update it, and if you attempt to it will become un-registered and you will then need to purchase a key to continue, that is what has happened.
Maybe you could un-install and re-install?

No app can monitor a nas. You need to install an ap on your nas for that
Although just displaying hard disk SMART info I use this and its very useful for checking the state of old fashioned hard disk drives. If you've got a slow computer it's always worth checking the hard disk before blaming Windows10.
thanks
