Every express store should have this as well

Pretty awful stuff when Co-op were doing it a year or two back - but at £3 it touches the spot!

How did the GCSE maths go?

Just rang local extra store and it`s still £5-99 a bottle.
Does the price vary region to region?

I don't get it... £3 *is* more than half of 5.99, yes, OK, only by half a penny, but that's not really the point. Any other offer I've ever seen where it's been "half price" has been rounded down. It's a bit pedantic, sure, but I don't get why you're questioning the math?

Get them to check again. When this offer was on last time the shelf edge sticker still said £5.99, but when I took one to the till it scanned at £3.00.

I guess this was why there was still loads left. I filled my boots and purchased 12 bottles (is there still another 5% off for 6 bottles ?), and when I got them home found I already had two cases untouched.

This past weekend, moving things around the garage I found a box - with another 6 bottles in. Should be OK for this summer then...

Tesco's really should have some signs produced saying ALMOST half price! If these were £2.99.5 then I'd have been tempted but at this price - No way!
A half penny goes a long way when you're homeless and living in 1950. (Please note the sarcasm hidden within my sentences).

Party at yours then!

Just bought 10 bottles - 2 chardonnay (all they had) 4 merlot, 4 cabernet - £28.50. I didn't realise you got another 5% off for 6 bottles or I would have bought a couple more. Still, £2.85 a bottle will do for me.

Yes....£3 is more than half. However...since the halfpenny was phased out anyway in 1984 , when something is equal to 0.5 exactly, and is rounded, it is rounded up instead of down (...you learn this in maths!). I'd therefore say that charging £3 and calling it halfprice is fine.

Thanks for that,

Rang them back and asked them to check again, they insisted the new offers start tomorrow but checked the label which still said £5-99.
I suggested they should try scanning a bottle and hey presto ----------- £3

But technically still wrong and contrary to any other major retailer's approach. I'm with the poster on this one.

I bought a couple of bottles - cab sauv and merlot - and was very pleasantly surprised... hope they have more when I go back tomorrow!

will added a few to my basket, and let you folks know what its like.

thanks, nicely stocked up. the red was priced @£5 each on shelf but scan @£3, also got double clubcard pts

Got a bottle of chardonnay , was an empty shelf of Merlot...Going back for a few bottles of Merlot tomorrow hopefully..

Well I'm no idiot, I just posted a deal... forgive me for generalising and stating it was half price.
Didn't realise it would be so controversial. Have changed the title now, and will think twice about sharing deals again!

Who?

managed to get the last 9 bottles on the shelf this morning, was quite a good saving along with my staff discount

oh,and dont let a few small minded people put you off posting deals, esp if they are as good as this one

Chardonnay is not good (£3 still cheap for cooking with though) but the Cabernet is very drinkable. Excellent deal.
