Not that I can see, but I can guarantee the 4 I bought for work are spot on
This is cheap as chips!

Awesome deal
Looks superb, just ordered Rocksmith PC pack with cable from Amazon for £32.99 also
Thomann are widely hated across the UK Music Industry Association.

Buy from the UK instead and support your local music shop before they are gone for good!

The last one of these that was brought into my workshop had a cracked tremolo caused by the poor quality/cheap alloys used to make it.
If it were left handed, I'd buy one. Thanks anyway.

The 4 I have seem to be ok.

Unfortunately the local shops dont offer value for money anymore. The equivalent of this quality would easily be double in my local. He couldnt match the deal with any instrument
Dont buy them at all. Save for a little quality from a guitar, a second hand mexican fender strat or an epiphone will do well. Practise amps can be picked up for £20. Or use a line in and buy guitar rig...

They have an epiphone pack too.

Please do tell where you are going to get a second hand mex start for this price? Or even double it

Seems a pretty solid price for a full size guitar & amp setup. Good pressie perhaps.

They probably couldn't match it because any real music shop will not sell below a certain level of quality, rather than just shifting boxes in the hope that the clueless won't send them back to them.

These are just el-cheapo chinese strats with Thomann's own brand name stamped on it and they won't be setup. The bag is more of a cover than protection and the seems come apart easily. The amp is worth about £20, we have one like this to compare to all the others we sell and people still go for the £99 micro cube every time as they can see the difference is obvious.

A photo does not give you any idea of quality with guitars, you need to pick the up and feel the difference.

buy cheap buy twice

You know as well as I do that these are all made in the same factories in China and then badged up.
The point is this is a starter kit, ideal to start off with then upgrade as you want.
I started off on a Sunn Mustang. Now using Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty, but not after many Squiers, Yamahas, Tokais etc. Just changed as I needed.

Not everyone can spend near enough £300 to learn an instrument they may change their mind about

Then learn on an acoustic which is far cheaper and will ultimately make you a better player IMO

As I said - these guitars all come from the same factory - different badges on different days, you know that. Look at the Sameks in years gone by.

Japanese guitars were sold as crap, and an 80s JV Squier can get hundreds as they are said to be better than the old US equivalents.

I bought an old Korean Squier, and even now I can get more than I paid for it back in the 90's, and again they were said to be crap too.

Indonesia was next, and even they are working their way up the quality list, leaving China at the bottom.

And where are the latest Squiers made??????

You keep missing the fact that these will do for a child who thinks they want to learn guitar. If they are still keen after 6-12 months then upgrade the guitar

Would you pay in excess of £200 just for a guitar for the child to then turn round and say they are bored with it?

Yamaha's are the only ones that I would recommend as a next step up - they are quality and have never failed.

You expect more than laminate for the price?

As you state, your cheapest starts at £60. Is that delivered? As it is already £14 more and this one includes delivery.

I have the acoustic at work too, and I am very impressed with it, as are my experienced peri staff.

None would use it on a gig, but for their intended purpose they are value for money.

I'm getting the feeling here you have an agenda against Thomann...........
LOL my agenda is not wanting my workshop filled with junk. This was my most recent nightmare job.
I was tempted to leave it out in the rain before touching it.

I have had nothing but excellent service from them. Even the more expensive guitars are cheaper from them than anything I can get, and that includes from Music Village (education prices)

That doesn't look like anything I have in terms of Harley Benson guitars
Original Poster
And anyway, it pays your wages, so I wouldn't complain
Original Poster
And you have to admit that that is one seriously mistreated guitar

I have various el cheapo guitars (Peavey included!) and they are used daily and a lot in my school, but none have gone like that

Come on the 500
I'm not kidding about the name and shame site. It's gonna be my 2013 project! I think i'll use the above as the header image.

At the end of the day, if you found these guitars fine for you then i'd say it was probably a combination of luck and that you possibly already know how to setup guitars.

Beginners don't and unless they are very lucky, any ultra cheap guitar will have some issues which are quite likely to put them off. I see this week to week where people either want to sell them to us as they have given up or need it fixed as their teacher has told them it's unplayable.

I wouldn't even really recommend having a guitar posted from a real music shop as by the time it has been thrown around by the couriers and left in a freezing cold warehouse overnight, when it arrives it will still need some tweaks to get it playing 100%

An experience player could resolve this of course, but newbies will not know how and its newbies that these cheapo things are aimed at.

I can honestly say that the guitars from here have been set up fine and not suffered through post. All guitars are posted, and lets face it some music shops stack em high sell em cheap.

I did have an issue with the bass I bought from them, with the action being a little high, but thats it. Even a newbie can work out the alan key provided for the bridge saddles
Look as a guitar newbie this is a one box solution to have a play with, something I've 'fancied' having a go at for the past 20 years, if I take to it or show any type of aptitude, I'll swiftly move on and buy the best money can get (within reason) as I do with most things in life, if I'm useless, can't get to grips with it or don't have the time I'll just bin it and forget it having got it out of my system, it's £100, it's a one box solution, It'll do for me.
It's the brand new Skoda / second hand BMW argument ............................
What no one seems to consider in these discussions is resale value. Lets say your darling child decides to give up on the guitar after 6 months, a £100 s/h instrument from a reputable manufacturer is still worth £100 6 months later, the brand new no name guitar however is only worth half what you paid for it.
