I've never had these, but I'd absolutely love a pair. By the way, I used to have an E36 M3 in Estoril blue

That's a bit unfair, what use is an eye test to the blind?
For the price these are about right. The previous versions were regularly found for £99. £20 more gets you the ability to stream your music without a cable.

These look great but I am underwhelmed by the sound.

Its fine for a computer set up but not a replacement on proper stereo or surround sound system.

A lot better than most of the comments on this thread. At least mine is about the product. I have no idea what your comment is about.
I love mine, and i appreciate you need a time machine, but i got these for £59.99 in a deal on this site directly from Harman Kardon themselves. I use them as an audio source for my gaming TV. The only drawback is they go to sleep if the sound goes off for a couple of minutes then take 2-3 seconds to turn back on again when the program resumes.
All thanks to echo ..... more price drops would follo
I got a set of these for £60. Granted that was a couple of years back now. These are nice speakers though.

Your comment was perfectly valid and useful, an informed and polite opinion of not only the price of the product but also the actual sound quality with a suggestion of a sound system as an alternative.

Some people and thier rudeness on here makes my brain ache.

5.1 surround sound systems ftw!!

Which is what they are specifically designed for - they are not supposed to be a home-cinema setup (HK have other much more expensive setups they'd like to sell you for that! )

Actually there is a thread on a real bargain from HK, unlike this one - for the Harman Kardon Aura for £150 - that is for a home cinema version of this sub-woofer. This is less than half the normal price of the speaker as opposed to this usual sort of price for these units. But its a different market and its for a different use.

I have these and I'm very happy with them overall, though I did get them cheaper(£75).

For the form factor, you really cant do better at this price in terms of sound quality. They sound much larger than they are, though still aren't ideal for a large living room setup or anything still if you're looking for high volume, high quality output. You can get some decent bookshelve speakers, but they are obviously much larger and less practical for many desk situations(which is what these compact 2.1 systems are really built for).

As somebody above noted, these do have a fairly annoying power saving feature where they turn off after about 10 minutes of quiet and then take a couple seconds to come back on after it detects sound. I'm seeing this more and more lately and it's a bit infuriating that these companies are doing this. At the very least make it an optional setting, not mandatory. For this reason alone, I'll say that it's worth considering NOT buying at this price, but again, you wont find anything that sounds this good in this kind of form factor so it's about priorities here. I deal with it cuz they do sound amazing and because I got a great price for em.

EDIT: I should mention I'm running them through a Xonar U7 DAC, so the quality(and volume) I get from them might exceed what others will get depending on the source(as always).

I’d want to demo. I could not find the distortion numbers listed. Maybe if Currys stock it you could demo (their staff look can look a bit blank when you want to actually demo things).

Sorry but these were the dogs about 10 years ago and still pack a punch. Heat from me.
Can't believe they are still trying to sell these.

I'd kind of view the sleeping function as advantageous personally. I use them for my desktop PC in a smallish room. But thinking of replacing my basic Sony soundbar with this for the main TV in the living room. I reckon they'll still sound great but admittedly I'm no audiophile.
amazon.co.uk/gp/…_i1 £109.95.

A little cheaper, if you can't get hold of them from Harmon.

I've not voted either way, as I think these are a bit over priced.
These don't spy on you 24/7 either. Even better. Non-smart tech is the smart choice.
Got a pair for £60 from HK previously.

Great sound for PC use, look nice IMO.

For this price though? Not a deal.

Somebody talking about audio quality ? Those that use other people’s ears deserve everything they get
I wonder which would be better for listening to music, this or PreSonus Eris E3.5's. I would use them with a usb dragonfly DAC. Or maybe something from Logitech. I think these look great though.

Another oddity from my experience dealing with Harmon... they sent me the wrong kit 3 times. But to their credit never required the wrong items to be returned. So, i now have 3 left satellite speakers (the one without the volume control) that i collected prior to getting the correct right sided speaker.

In each time their customer service was absolutely top notch, but their English isnt great so trying to explain my speaker problem to them took some patience.

That ones a refurb. You can grab a brand new set of the wireless version for only £20 more that I posted here.
Can't particularly recommend the build quality. Mine split at the speakers (glued together). Might have just been unlucky but there you go. Also had issue with the cable that goes into the subwoofer. Never moved yet developed an issue whereby it had to be taped in a certain position otherwise it wouldn't produce sound...

Ive got two sets of these and everyone always comments on how good they look...
I’ve got the V2 and V3 versions of these. My V3’s are permanently hooked up to an echo dot and provide a great, rich sound. The best thing about these speakers is they sound good at low volumes and have an adjustable bass dial. Best speakers you can get in the £100 bracket IMO.

Can’t recommend them enough

Not really John, it's a much more relevant discussion than "Those look ugly", "these are the best", "I don't like Harmon Kardon" etc.
If you have multiple opinions on the sound quality that reinforce each other, it's more likely to be accurate.

I always try and listen with my ears. I find they are the best things for doing actual listening with. What Tryp is saying though is that its nice to read a well written piece on someones view of the audio quality, rather than the rather more basic binary responses. Surely in life you must rely at some point on other peoples opinions?
