It's easy to forget about the free books part of amazon prime, I know I do but this could be a good place to start for you or your kids

Looks to be a new prime feature. Seems to mostly be the first book of series for free to temp you to buy the rest.. But free is free.

"read" only is free to buy is £5.99

Its a book, what else are you going to do with it except read it ? oO

It's not free to buy, it's free to read with kindle unlimited, which you have to subscribe to,
so it's not free to prime customers

Yeah, bit misleading. Not free copy, just available to read as part of the subscription.

The main difference being, when your subscription ends, so does your ability to read the book.

not free

Wrong you do not need Kindle Unlimited to read this, it would say so in the description. Check the description for the Chamber of Secrets which DOES say Kindle Unlimited but this one is free with standard Prime. I have just downloaded the Philosopher's Stone to my phone for free with no KU subscription

There's changes today to Free reading with prime.
I didn't bother reading the email so not sure what

Yep. Free to read as a Prime customer. It's sent to your kindle for free. No need to pay for Kindle Unlimited. Cheers OP

It's new feature of Prime there's magazines & comics to read for free as well as books. I downloaded Harry Potter for free thanks. Will have a better look into this new feature of Prime later

You can "borrow" ten titles at a time

some info from

f you already have prime you shouldn't need to join prime to access "prime reading" - perhaps you have inadvertently created a second Amazon account?

To the right of "Hello Jody your account" at the top of this page, if it says "your prime" then you should just be able to click on "your prime" to view all the features, including "prime reading". Click on the "browse catalogue" to see the book choice.

If you are still stuck use the "contact us" button on the right of this page to speak to customer services....

i think this only works if you are the Lead Prime member - i piggyback on my son's membership.

Kindle unlimited has been going for ages, this is different. It's basically the lending library but for 10 titles instead of one, and accessible through other devices than kindles. I've borrowed 10 books today without charge and my account doesn't show me as being a kindle unlimited member
The people having problems I'm guessing have inadvertently hit the button for kindle unlimited or buy instead of just read for free
