Much cheaper than the ultra HD blu rays if you’ve got a new apple TV. May not quite be the same quality as the physical discs though.

This is cheap for UHD but it has also been much cheaper. Use the Cheap Charts app to track prices, it’s been sold at £19.99 3x over the last 12 months. Probably worth waiting.

'iPhone 8 and newer, iPad Pro (2017), and Apple TV 4K can play HDR10 and Dolby Vision content.

Apple TV 4K, connected to a 4K-compatible television, can play 4K content. 4K video, especially with HDR10 or Dolby Vision, requires an HDMI cable compatible with these formats'.

No Atmos or DTSX though.

Theres no reference to 4K, UHD or HDR on the page, just states HD

Thanks - I should have been more specific and said 'HDR to my TV' but you covered all the bases

On iTunes it states 4K HDR on each film, not in the box set, but buying the set you do get each film in 4

If you’ve bought it and you’re checking your library, it’ll show the highest resolution available on that device. If you check the same film in the iTunes Store it’ll show that you’ve purchased it (the options are download/play rather than buy/rent) and underneath the title it’ll show you the highest resolution it’s available in on any Apple device. 4K currently only available with the latest 4K Apple TV.

Beware, you’ll end up spending a lot on content you didn’t need, just cos it’s cheap

From my iPhone you can see that it says 4k and Dolby vision for this and the other 7 films.

Interestingly Cheap Charts doesn’t list them as 4K when in fact they are.

My kids love Harry Potter and have the definitive Blu Ray version. Is the 4K version worth the upgrade?

Depends what device you have. 4K iTunes playback only works on the newest iOS devices and Apple TVs.

Hi Vashetti,

Thanks for the reply, I have just bought the Apple TV 4K to go with my HDR compatible 4K Samsung TV (so not Dolby Vision compatible).

Then I say full steam ahead!

Your kids may not understand the technical side, but having the films in their best possible quality (bar buying the UHD Blu-ray boxset and a UHD Blu-ray player) can surely only be most appreciated!
