This costumes ok for world book day, but when 30 kids turn up as Spider-Man/superman/batman , you have to wonder whether the parents know what a book is!

It’s not a party, it’s called world BOOK day for a reason, I’m betting your sending yours as a superhero, it’s pretty lazy.
Why cold??? Seems great deal.

To be fair, I would rather send my son (who isnt at school yet) in a spider man costume rather than buying some cheap costume. What a waste of money for something that is going to be single use or a couple of times at best.

Some of the most interesting characters are comic book characters - and they’re still books

All the characters you mention were in books before films/TV.

Depends whether you class a comic as a book. Certainly not what world book day is aimed at.

World Book Day is meant to be the perfect opportunity for parents, teachers and kids to join together in appreciation of the world of literature and the life-long pleasure of reading
Comics don’t really count do they?.

ALL reading counts. Comic books are just as valid as literature, as Shakespeare or Dickens. Often comic books can be used as a gateway to other books too. World Book Day is about celebrating books of all types.

I disagree. Not as valid at all,but have a nice day.

Absolutely entitled to your opinion, but by that argument if a child goes as The Gruffallo that isn't valid?? I mean, that's basically a comic! I concede a diet of solely graphic novels, or comics is not good. However, if they engage with it it is valid. If they advance their reading and it helps to develop a love of books it is to be encouraged. We will just have to agree to disagree! As you say, have a nice day, maybe do some reading! Up, up and away.
Thanks grabbed the Harry pothead costume instead
