I believe this is a ported gamecube game.... given that I was desperately hoping to get ahold of the gamecube version as soon as it came out, to no avail

Sorry for being dumb but what is a "ported gamecube game"?

I was going to get this but is it one to stay away from?

The game originally came out on the Gamecube. It has been remade for the Wii.

'Ported' just means they take a game that was originally made for one format and remake it for a different format. Sometimes they make no alterations to the game, othertimes they alter the game to take advantage of the extra features the new computer/console may have, and/or to immprove the gameplay.

In this case unfortunately half the game (the option to be a girl and subsequently all the menfolk) have been removed for no reason at all. Shame.

It's still a fun game though, if a little long winded to get into. Definitely worth it at that price...

Sorry for being unclear: I wasn't saying that this is a game to stay away from: If I had a wii I'd have taken this offer up in a flash
