Hi All

Found this by accident. I was in our local PC World looking for a new hard disk drive and noticed this TV Card. Was sure the price was wrong so I ask the check out girl and was staggered to find they were selling off this item for an amazing £4.97 (normally £49.99), so I bought two.

This may be just a local deal, but always worth checking.

Good Hunting (Thanks Pedroman)

sweet mother of god fu&*$£*ck2 :x:thumbsup::thumbsup: bought this thing for around £80 a few years back. it's great. but christ... £5? i'll buy 10.

I've got one running on Windows Vista (x86,32bit) A cheap SKY SD TV PVR

The OP is from Barrow.

This will be hit and miss... Braehead store had a bulkcrate of them months back (April-ish) but this one was sold as £9.97 but with 30% off. Since they sold out I've never seen them back so I think different stores have been selling them off at different times.

Anyone seen this at another store? Or anyone know a way to find out if your nearest store has stock? Reason I ask is that it wll cost me £20 in fuel to visit local PC World!

There'll be *od all in the london stores - there never is - incidentially if you alert the staff to the excessively low price they'll simply nab them all. I've had a few occasions where stock of say 8-10 mysteriously can't be found in the stockroom, even though i've seen the stock status screen on the till. Hate DSG

Hi Folks

I bought these tv cards from the PC World in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The amazing thing is that further along the shelf they were selling the HVR 1100 for £39.99

I have no idea what the SKU is but on the receipt under the line HAUPPAUGE WINTVHVR 1300 £4.97, it says 1x0000268036 @ £4.97

Hope that helps. If not let me know.

Hi, Was there any left in Barrow?

watch these cards are very hard trying to get going in 64bit os

Sorry, I got the last two. I have an Advent Win XP Media Centre Edition PC with one HVR 1100 on board but room for another. Once installed I can record one channel while watching another.

Has anyone else found them at this price? I will pop in to the Hedge End store if I have time tomorrow to see if they have any.

There are very often large mistakes with the stock screens... to be honest the whole dixons group is run very poorly, and stock takes can always go crazy with one small mistake in the stock room or deliveries.

In the Derry pc world store the staff openly admit to this practise, suppose it props up their minimum wage, bless them

Its a nice card and works well. If you manage to get one , its worth looking into using something like GBPVR (unless you are using it on Media Centre/ Vista Premium) - the bundled WinTV is showing its age a bit (even with its new skin) and the EPG recordng service is flaky to put it politely.

Even if you dont ring, if you go instore, you can/could (I know i used to do this a yr or two back dont know if its stopped) check stock at all PCworld/Curry and Dixon Stores (they are non enow) using the DSG system. You can check store stocks and even the warehouse stock. If warehouse stock is available, you can order and pay for it, and collect it the coming Friday (or whichever Day delivery is made to the store).

And yes the staff do know a lot of bargains, most are snapped up, and the rest are revealed to you once you say "yes I think i'll try the extended warranty" and then the sales guy says, "well thats great, now lets see, the system says I can do you this keyboard, and webcam bundle for £4.97 and even the Antivirus is a fiver if i recall the thanksgiving sale SKU".

LOl!!

Cheers!!

Not a sausage in London SE and East Anglia. Poster was just lucky.

nonsense!

i picked up 2 from Manchester Pin Mill Brow today @ 3pm

still marked up at ~£54 but scans at £4.97

Bought one in Edinburgh last night...last one they had though...

so are there none left anywhere?? anyone tried around south-west?

For the effort involved in trying to get your hands on one it's probably not worth it - it'll cost you a fortune if you call their stock locator number and it's hit and miss if the operators can use the in-house stock system. Generally they just check the website - same as you would sitting at home - great help.

There are stocks available but they're PC World Business where it's £65, no price match available, run as different operations, same old DSG run-around.
