Hauwei Mate 20 Pro down to £152 on O2 Refresh

You'll need to go into store or do it over the phone. Pick the 60GB tariff. This gets £200 off the price of the phone, and the store will knock off the last £100, so nothing to pay in store.

Call 202 once you get home and pay off the phone plan (£152). Depending on who you talk to you might get stung with the first month's airtime, but I didn't.

O2 are clearly expecting Huawei sales to continue to tank, but considering this sold for nearly a grand a year ago and still has one of the best cameras available it's an absolute steal for this price.

Caveat: this will record a credit search as you're (briefly!) signing up for a phone contract.

Cold. This is just a repost of another recent deal, the other post with £252 is the accurate price, you need to do a lot of leg work & get lucky to get this price. I never recieved the instore discount, it's pot luck. They also seem to be dragging their heels on not making you pay the 1st month, I spoke to 3 different agents to try & cancel without paying it, AND took it to their resolution team to no avail.

Rubbish on both counts.

What's the monthly tariff?
Is this the same as the last post for mate 20 pro & p20 pro ?
We'd like to hear from people who did it previously please?

Yeah, shove that in your pipe Trumpy

It worked flawlessly of that helps
Why is this being posted all over again?

And it seems like from your instructions, OP, that you're activating the SIM to be able to call 202. Don't use the SIM at all, call from another phone. You're not paying off the remainder of the contract, you're cancelling the contract under the statutory 14 day cooling off period.

There's been SO MANY threads about this. I've been watching the As New variety as it's in my Basket and my niece may get one (sister is discussing it with husband). Been OOS online for a while afaik.

But yes, *don't activate the SIM* at all. Not sure about the "phone 202" instructions either.

Also, the last I read (about Brand New/Sealed), the 60GB tariff option where they offer £75/£100 off was stopped a day or two ago. eg here and here

does not work in franchise stores. checked today in Newport.
Sorry I don't quite understand exactly what you do to get this? Is there a clearer "script" somewhere? Tempted to get, though size sounds a little big for my liking

Here's the O2 Franchise store list (for anyone else wondering). I might try one of my city centre stores if my sister gives me the okay.
It’s not just a credit search. It’s a hard credit check that will impact your credit score. Then, once you cancel, they will give a mark on your credit score that will lower it even more. Happened with me, even not activating it and cancelling in the first 14 days. If your credit score is important to you, do not even try getting this “deal”...

The discount is on the system isn't it? is just whether the advisor chooses to use it to close the sale

Which may be true if the franchisee has told their employees they can't use it, as it comes out of the franchisees' profit/bonus

Totally, this type of “deal” should be banned from hotukdeals.

It is same with student discounts. Franchise store staff saying they not able to add it.

It's great in my opinion that Huawei are doing OK - I love their phones - but the majority of their sales seem to be in China and I expect their sales will tank in the west when the new ranges are released with no Google. Apparently the current phones won't be affected retrospectively and will keep Google, etc so this is a great deal if it actually works
It's £252 regardless of data on O2 website, surely web chat can do the same deal

I would prefer they were a little more truthful from the outset.

'Deals' are becomimg clickbait to some, knowing that they will get votes from people who don't take the time to understand the full deatil of obtaining the advertised price.

Converse to this, I have had so many good deals over the years where the advertised price is high but the thread has detail of obtaining a cheaper price via a workaround. Most of thoes deals never got hot either! Sheep voting at it's best.

Rant over!

Yeah & I didn't think reposts were allowed within 30 days or something? This is just the same deal with an over reaction of the price. Only a deal for people happy with potentially paying £273 (minimum 1GB contract you can get it on). Still a very good deal but obviously a lot more than said here.
Edited by: "Aaargh" 29th Sep
I don't get it.
Why would the store knock another £100…?
Can someone explain please.

Any idea how long it would impact your credit score for?

Forever as it could always be higher without that mark. And for some people this can reflect paying much more interest in a mortgage. This all just to save £200 in something you don’t need hehe
Why does this affect credit score, is it not just a mobile contract?
Tried my 3 of my local stores and none were willing to knock the 100 off. Ended up buying the like new version instead.

Thanks for the advice, I thought a hard credit search only had a negative affect on your credit score for a certain period of time and not forever. This is totally not worth doing.

I got this offer on Friday. Apparently they are doing all the Huawei phones cheap because they were given a load of stock to clear so whatever they make on them is profit

Nonsense. Score means nothing for a mortgage, only number of missed payments, defaults and CCJs would stop you from getting a good interest rate mortgage. Missed payment are still fine for most lenders, except missed mortgage payments, which will make you a sub prime borrower. The mostly meaningless score will go up anyway when you pay you accounts like you are supposed to over time.
