Got a laptop that plays HD so building up a collection here, never know they might all be collectors items in the future, look a Betamax!:whistling:

Nowt wrong with HD-DVD. I have both blurrey and HD-DVD and go with the cheapest option of either of the two.

Same film and sound in the most part.

Yep nothing wrong with HD, it was the same with betamax people laughed about but they got rid of the better format as the picture was better

@gR8_mUndA
I also picked up an HD-DVD player for £15, from a HUKD thread a few months ago. It plays from USB and upscales SD excellently, which is what it is mainly used for. These cheap HD movies are a handy bonus. If I want to watch a Blu-ray film I'll use my son's PS3.

Thanks OP.

The category of "Pennywise, Pound Foolish" but will suit a very small minority who should not be used as the front for all. The "trapped" should not be the piped-piper for others. Commerce always "wins" because there are losers born and reborn every moment. Bargains are only so when there is no entrapment. Afterall, for a shopaholic, bargains ares everys wheres. "Eets true ...!!"

The dead should cost nothing. Believe it or not, the bottom of a dead barrel will be had for 20p - should one have patience.

I don't see why these threads bring in the haters.
To be honest, if I was able to play HD-DVD I would be snapping up all the cheap movies I can get.

I already have all of the titles I would want from that list I think but these are a bargain.

I was listening to a tech podcast where the general consensus was that Blu-ray will be obselete in a couple of years. Everything will be streamed or stored on hard drives.

Very eloquently put, Sir, I couldn't agree more.

HH

I have both formats and the quality is negligible to be honest.

At 1.99 a title, that's excellent value for money for High Def movies.

I think people are being a bit harsh re: HD DVD - the output is virtually identical at 1080p versus BD

What I was saying was those titles have been that price for a while
There are a lot of HD DVd's that are not £1.99

I have almost got all of those, I did pick up Dante's peak though.
Was considering Bleak Hose at £7 though, has anyone got it and what are their thoughts? I can't seem to find a review for it anywhere...

PhoenixAsh;6999377

Was considering Bleak Hose at £7 though,

It's quite depressing, the hose is a really deep grey colour and only ever dribbles a bit of water. They spend the entire film trying to fix it but it turns out that it's completely broken.

This is the best thing I have read on here. Rep given.

I of course, meant Bleak House...

HD and BD are both 1080p, identical. Only thing BD had over HD was space on the discs, BD technology was way lagging behind when the war came to an end. Annoyingly HD was working on a disc with more space and discs would have been cheaper to produce. Sony decided who won the war, not the consumer. It's a shame, but either way I get to see hi def films on my screen and they look great.

I personally prefered HD-DVD over Blu-Ray. A couple of reasons including: all discs region free, had picture-in-picture etc from day one not ages after and God knows how many profile updates later as with Blu-Ray! Used to own the HD-DVD add-on for my XBOX360 but sold it as planned to get a standalone player instead. Didn't bother when format died. Might pick up a LG HD-DVD/Blu-Ray reader for my HTPC and start buying cheap HD-DVD's again though. :whistling:

do these play on blu-ray?

its okay i googled the answer; lol

Since the Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD formats are incompatible, due to differences in actual physical disc structure, you cannot play a Blu-ray Disc in an HD-DVD format player, nor can you play an HD-DVD in a Blu-ray Disc format player
