All credit should go to the above thread!

This deal was posted just over a month ago, but the price has dropped again, by just over £1.

There are contradicting opinions about this camera, but one thing is sure - its cheap to buy.

I would urge caution on these type of 'Deals'. I placed an order for this through Amazon. THREE weeks later the item arrived, from Hong Kong!.

Initial look was that it appeared to be a genuine product however upon closer inspection something did not 'feel' quite right. The battery and cables looked the part and even the unit itself however when I put the batter in and switched the item on, nothing worked as it should have!

The screen resolution is by no means HD at all. To say VGA is being very kind. There are options in the software menu that claim to record in HD resolution however I will never know as this is all the unit did; switched on and allowed menu settings. The record function keys did not work. What happened was that whenever I pressed the 'Record' button then all buttons seemed to stop working and no recording took place. Even the power button did not work which meant I had to open the battery compartment and remove the battery.

I persevered for around an hour trying various button presses etc and reading the instructions to see if I was doing anything wrong but nope. Just could not get the unit to work.

Contacted the seller via Amazon and they offered me $7 goodwill gesture...i was like...WTF! I replied with this as the theme of the message and kindly explained that the item did not work and I would be happy to return it provided a prepaid stamp was issued however that was declined and I did end up getting a full refund and the item was binned. I did not even want to attempt to use the cables, battery or any other part of the kit as it clearly lacked any quality control. There was a little QC sticker on the side of the unit but no way are these units checked imo.

Thankfully I purchased it via Amazon which provides buyers with a good level of protection however this undoubted will damage their reputation and brand if they continue to allow the sale of substandard and cheap electronic items like this. Very poor quality and would definitely challenge the product description against the item capability.

Link as per OP - but thanks for posting all the same.
I have read yours and fully took on-board your comments.
My logic is, for £10 I'm not risking much. I'll report back how mine "performs" !
Cheers

why would you want a camera on your dash?

why would you want a camera on your dash?

I don't know how to answer that.

Serious answer:
1. To capture road incidents (hopefully where you are not at fault)
2. I think they call it a dash cam as opposed to windscreen cam as your not suppose to have anything obstructing your vision
3. To film your dogging adventures?

Ordered thank you OP, heat given

Pile of rubbish and worthless as evidence in collisions due to such poor image quality

I bought one of these cameras last month and although the daytime footage is useable the night time footage is totally useless. I wish now I had spent a little extra and bought the G1W camera reviewed here youtu.be/Eo7…A3o as they say buy cheap buy twice!

A few weeks back Alibaba.com aka AliExpress had a big sale on their website up to 90% of certain items from certain sellers for 24hrs only, I got 1 of these with free delivery for £8.34

Bought 2 of these last month, one for me and one for my dad. Not brilliant quality but they both work and for a little over £10 you cannot argue too much. delivered within a week.

Banned

iv received my g1w for £35 form restore on eBay . their are 3 versions and mine us 2014 version. they are full HD.
the only thing I noticed I'd it Does obstructs your view!
so this looks massive as rather buy the g1w if i was a newbie. the g1w is size of half your hand. their are those at £21 been told they are fake

Not worth a rub , If your serious about protecting your no claims invest in a quality cam , That said great value for money for a child`s toy car dash cam :-)

My dad purchased one of these. Did take ages to deliver. It's not bad for the price as you would expect. The one main negative is that it doesn't pick up number plates so if you was to have an accident that's the only missing piece.

Again for a tenner it's alright but not super reliable.

It's ok as a proof of concept to justify buying a more expensive one, though you could use your smartphone for that. Better to spend £40-50 on a Mobius for the much clearer video from a much smaller unit.

I had both the G1W and a D33 and the D33 is better IMO for 2 reasons, slightly better picture at 1080p and unit is much smaller than G1W so does not take up as much room on your windscreen - mine is right behind the rear-view mirror so no obstructing view.

Bought mine for £35 from Foxoffer.com - took ust under 3 weeks and no customs charges as it was marked as a Gift.

I am looking to buy a camera for front and rear view does anyone have a personal recommendation of one that they use.
I don't mind the cost, I would just like a good quality easy to use one.

This won’t last much longer than 2 months, don’t do it. Buy a G1W or better a Mobius, much more better value with continued firmware support and developer guarantee.

You can buy a G1WH camera (better then G1W) for £32.40 delivered from banggood with code 687d98

banggood.com/Ful…tml

I bought from banggood before, takes around 2 weeks

Or better buy the Mobius for £10 more:

ebay.co.uk/itm…306

Although you will have to buy the additional bits i.e. suction mount, usb lead, lighter socket etc... still all for under £5 extra

The problem is if you are caught in an accident using this camera you would then have to ask yourself, that if You had not spent 2 minutes setting this up before the start of your journey then you would not of been at that junction when for example "A lorry came and ran a red light which hit another car and then collided with me", think like the "butterfly effect". en.wikipedia.org/wik…ect

I bought this last time it was posted for 11.99 UK seller.
It's brilliant, arrived within 3 days fitted that day, used it everyday since.
Picture is great quality.
Instructions are rubbish but you don't need to be a genius to figure them out.

Whatever the others say and the reviews, I love mine and highly recommend it.

Most duaI-lens dashcams are over-priced & under-performing. I've been using a Mobius every day for the past 6 months. Two Mobius would serve your needs. Review...

You should read this first: I have one of these. Got mine from amazon also but maybe a different buyer and more expensive. Maybe i'm just intelligent but it was easy to setup, simply plug the cable into your cigarette lighter and insert sd card. Done. The unit turns on automatically and records when i start the car and turns off when i turn the car off. I use the highest supported card 32GB so i have well over a weeks worth of recordings at highest res, it then copies over the old stuff when it has no empty space. I have heard people trying to use the inbuilt battery rather than keeping it plugged in and it not lasting long, but doing this would mean messing around each time you get in the car to turn on and off etc, would you really want to do this?

Indeed, in the same way as if you hadn't left that comment, someone wouldn't have thought to themselves, " I will look for you, I will find you, and I will rip your wings off."
Oh no sorry, wrong film.

Guess it depends were you live as in many areas of the uk, if you were to leave this permanently set up there is a good chance it will be a target for thieves which could mean a lot more financial damage to the car than what the device is worth.

would be good to record merely for how badly some people drive, for instance people cutting you up, getting aggy, the ones who go 30 in a 40 then 35 in a 30
would provide some good entertainment for others

What type of holder would you recommend to attach different size phones and still be able to use the rear cameras?

They're ok depending on which version you get as the quality varies between the clones but none of them are full HD. The one with a MGF on the splash screen is better than the one with the two motorbikes on the splash, but tbh spend £30 more and get a mobius. Smaller and real HD.

There's quite a few mirror cam models to choose from. I might have bought one, but for the fact that my research revealed them all to be pile of sh*te. Firmware problems, no support from the manufacturers, poor video & audio quality, etc. Someday, someone will make a decent mirror cam, & I'll buy it.

Also the mirror ones are designed for left hand drive cars, so they tend to be at the wrong angle and have part of the image cut off by your mirror surround. I've never seen one for Right-Hand drive cars yet.

Bought one of these last time round a month or two ago. Delivery took 3-4 weeks from Malaysia. SD card cost more than the device Plugged it in and it works perfectly. set it up and forget it. It starts recording when i switch the engine on. Records several hours of driving in 5 minute sections and overwrites the oldest files unless you lock the recording. Instructions are predictablty hopeless but not too difficult to figure out. Bargain for just over a tenner HOT!

I'm sure that could soon be remedied by way of a modification using a dremel & hammer!
I was gonna say buy a left hand drive car... then realised that wouldn't help much...Doh!!
Or would it?... oO

The D33 is interesting, wish I could find a review of it. How long have you had it? Any firmware glitches / memory card incompatibilities / other problems? Can the screen be switched off? Does it have a standard mounting thread? 3 metre cable included? Any markings on the case that would attract the attention of a thief?

fair enough point.

Bought this last time around. Complete tat. Quality of the novelty inside a Tesco Value Christmas Cracker. Worked for 2 minutes, then went pop. Scrambled the sd card with it. Back to Amazon for a refund. Put your money towards something else.

Type phone car mount video recording into Google and it gives you various options do the same into YouTube and you can see some reviews on there as well.

Even the very basic cheapo plastic holders on eBay if you choose carefully don't block out the rear camera which tends to be at the top of the phone. Unless you have a Nokia windows phone with the lens in the middle of the back you should be fine. It's always best to record video with he phone lying horizontal than upright other wise you will be like these numpties vertical video syndrome
