Some people say you need an ssd, some people say HDD is fine. 1050 graphics card is no good, you need to go with the 1060 etc etc. I have a budget so I need to find something that will actually do the job while not being top end and newly released. Believe me I have been googling for days on end and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer as to what is best. I basically need to know what is best to sacrifice to fit my budget.

You will drive yourself crazy doing video editing on a laptop

Get yourself a nice desktop machine, you csn build nice solid setups for around 600

Many people make the mistake of buying a laptop thinking they will be carrying it everywhere but they never do.

Get yourself a solid desktop for home and something portable for the go.

OK. That makes things clear. I think.

This discussion still going on?

It really has nothing to do with mac v windows. Both "just work" so it is best to go with your preference. That doesn't mean I think the air is a good deal though, it is old tech for a price it was worth new to anyone that doesn't care about OS.

I had Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM which was released the same year so I guess it similar. Even I read some bad reviews back then mostly based on "that's the quite old lens", I really liked it. The image was sharp, the focus was good and fast and the only thing I think I noticed was bit washed out colours. Now when I think twice, that might be caused by haze that appear on long distance shots.

Although, I think you should be aware that Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III doesn't have stabilisation which is really needed thing on telephoto lenses (unless you know you're not going to shoot from hand)

I bought this from HDew about a year ago. No problems at all really sharp lens for the price point. Also I managed to register fine on the Canon website. If you have a UK vat receipt canon can't argue about it.

HDEW are an excellent retailer. So no problems.

wow such certainty - cant say that about uk retailers so saying that about foreign retailers you have no real protection with is nuts

I'm only going on the reviews I have read (I'm new to this), but the 75-300 gets a pretty bad write-up, certainly compared to this. Also, STM matters, particularly for video. STM means the autofocus is almost silent, and a noisy autofocus will disrupt video recording sound.

Very very powerful camera for the price, is this a grey import?

Yes, these are Grey. Don't be too put off by that tho. I use one of these for wildlife etc. its a great camera for this, and i'm not yet convinced by the D500s ability to crop as well as the D7200. Beats my D810 and D4 in this area anyway

The D5300 is a bit heavier than the D3400 and the battery life is much improved, but in most other respects the D5300 is either as good or better for not much more money.

I went around all of South America and Europe with a Tokina 11-16mm and the Nikon 35mm as my two travel lenses and wasn't disappointed. I tried a 50mm but it just felt slightly too long for everyday use, although it was possible to make shots look quite intimate using it. Best way to find out which one works best for you might be to stick the kit lens on the focal length of each for a day or two.

I agree i own both those lenses and they are pretty much all I use.
