My son purchased his active from here and change his region tothe UK when he connected to his phone. That way he got NFC back and was talking to the correct app store!

Thanks. UAE version doesn't have the NFC. I would use the NFC. It's golden if you forget your wallet

The Spay apparently takes you to UAE setting, but can be changed back to UK. I don't use it for NFC payments so not a big deal for me.

I thought the same, I have small wrists, but I tried them on in store and the 42 was too small!

I missed out on the UK version on Amazon at 499, but am very tempted by this one. Theres one thing I'm uncertain of about the international versions - perhaps someone who grabbed one can help me out... Does Wi-Fi calling work on the Three network on non-uk handsets? (I saw someone mention it works on EE) No signal at work makes this a mandatory feature for me! Not bothered about Samsung pay though. Many thanks

Better late than never, they say (y)

Bit late with yr barrow.

Price is fantastic, phone is a beast, seller has had good references here. There wouldn't be a problem with UK radio bands, 4G LTE etc Depends basically on what you're looking for in a phone, this phone was designed for heavy users, those who need it for work (dual sim), plus stylus for taking notes, DeX for connecting it to a monitor, using 512GB storage, multi-tasking on massive RAM, etc However, considering it costs less than an iPhone XR (on which many have splashed out, including my brother) - ...I think it can also be highly enjoyed by more moderate users that like to play games, watch videos, listen to music (DAC on this as good as LG's), take fab pictures on camera, etc: I'd be one of those, but as I have a Note 8 I'm well served. I might also be a bit pissed if Samsung doesn't support this non-European phone software-wise, with adequate OS & security updates. That's the risk here. All in all, I think software quality + luxury/productivity features give it an edge over similar Chinese, high-powered rivals.

That photo is terribly pixellated and generally just terrible. The only thing good about it is the lighting and that wasn't a result of the 'iphone'.

The point of the EVF is to give an accurate depiction of the scene so if the Canon's 'EVF is much brighter' your exposure is off.

I have no doubt that the EOS R is a good camera but there is a reason many pros from Nikon and Canon now shoot Sony. Almost every wedding tog I know now shoots Sony. A few things missing from the EOS R is dual card slots (ridiculous to miss this out), IBIS, fast focusing. The thing is the RF lenses are expensive, more expensive than Sony in a number of cases and no real 3rd party options at the moment makes it a very expensive system to buy in to unless you're only using older adapted EF lenses. Overall, for what it offers - this camera is still overpriced.

I’ve used both the Canon R and Sony A7III, they are both brilliant cameras with excellent images. Sony has the edge for portraits and sport but I prefer the Canon for landscapes. What I do find though is that the EVF and touch screen on the Canon are far superior to the Sony and make using the camera much easier, for example the touch focus on the Canon screen is much easier and quicker than vis the Sony and in low light the EVF is much brighter. Can’t say in the real world I’ve noticed any difference with the lack of IBIS on the Canon but then again the stabilisation on the newer Canon lenses is excellent. Here are a couple of images from both

Fwiw others seem to disagree that the AF is awful on the Eos R. I don't know, haven't tried it yet.

Yes, for the money - this has awful AF. What are these other ‘features’ you speak of?

No it's not. It entirely depends on what you're doing.

They do grey import cameras, backed up by their own guarantees. Got a reasonable reputation though. Apple kit may therefore be grey imports too.

256 GB is at £1,169.00 though, Is there a cheaper deal for this model, or this particular retailer is no good?

I disagree. I work on a MacBook all day every day and 128gb is enough. Everything is cloud based and only regularly used stuff is cached locally.

Operationally, yes at a push but effectively, no. It would require a really wide angle lens on it and wouldn't be worth the cost when you can buy fairly cheap purpose made dashcams. A digital camera isn't something you'd really want to leave on the car dashboard either.

Can this be used as a dashcam

The mark II with the 14-42 at £350 is a steal.

good price, bit better than the usual 20% off uk prices and hdew has a decent reputation

Just spent a day on a shoot with the MK 1 and MK2 these are very capable cameras especially with both Olympus and Panasonic prime lenses. The MK 3 I believe makes it easier to shoot but you can still kick it into full manual for total control. Just for reference for those who think the Micro 4/3 isnt up to scratch you can check out the shots here. Challenging, changing stage lighting, mainly shot wide open F1.8/F2.8 , these are quick to focus and light to carry as oppose to my "pro " kit with fast F2.8 tele lenses.A killer combo on my not so young muscles. These are a joy to use. https://www.davebrownphotography.co.uk/p245325708

It's a very good lens and I've used it with an F1 but this is wasted money on a DSLR.

There are better AF standard lenses for all other apertures for Nikon DSLR for definite but if you only want a sliver in focus and nice out of focus or maybe you still use 35mm. It is lovely and smooth and I like MF and it feels good and using such a fine tool that when I was a kid I could never have imagined to actually hold and use and see the results...maybe it's just me

Canon EF 50mm F1.8 STM - £89 @ HDEW Cameras

I have this lens and it is fantastic. It has a fixed focal length so if you want to zoom in then you have to use your feet. But the picture quality blows the two kit lenses out of the water. The 1.8 apature gives excellent bokeh to make your subject stand out from the background. You can also get very creative with this lens.

Its different to your 18-55 and 55-20 kit lenses. First is focal length. 50 mm has 1.8 whereas your lenses can go upto 3.2 least. Lower f values means better blurred background aka bokeh. 50 mm is does not have zoom so u need to very close to subject. It's good for portrait and in low light...hope that gives you an idea..

If you live within range of one of the stores here www.cameraworld.co.uk pop in and chat with them. Prices are usually around the Amazon mark but might be worth it for the advice.

The focal length is a property of the lens and nothing to do with the body, so the 50mm figure is directly comparable with the values of your other lenses. This lens has a fixed zoom level close to the max zoom on your 18-55. This means it can be tricky to frame shots indoors as you need to stand back a bit more. However, forcing you to stand back flattens facial features and leads to some truly beautiful portraits. The large aperture and shallow depth of field help in this regard too. This lens lets you take the photo you imagined. Crop factor is only important if you want to know what focal length would give you the same field of view on a 35mm camera... Useful if you have experience with several cameras, but a somewhat random complication otherwise!

And I remember when my grandad used to give me Werthers Originals...

OK. That makes things clear. I think.

This discussion still going on? It really has nothing to do with mac v windows. Both "just work" so it is best to go with your preference. That doesn't mean I think the air is a good deal though, it is old tech for a price it was worth new to anyone that doesn't care about OS.

I had Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM which was released the same year so I guess it similar. Even I read some bad reviews back then mostly based on "that's the quite old lens", I really liked it. The image was sharp, the focus was good and fast and the only thing I think I noticed was bit washed out colours. Now when I think twice, that might be caused by haze that appear on long distance shots. Although, I think you should be aware that Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III doesn't have stabilisation which is really needed thing on telephoto lenses (unless you know you're not going to shoot from hand)
