No DIVX XVID???

No idea, I assume it does or what is the point of it having a USB port?

We don't know that for sure though. Some players have USB but don't mention DIVX playback yet do play it so you never know, can always be taken back if it's no good. Either way, it's still a good price for a 1080p upscaling player with card reader.

Works on Divx and Xvid

The one they sold back in June was divx. Can't see them getting less features.

I did check the Silvercrest site but can't see this player on there.

It may support Xvid, but not officially support DivX?

If I remember correctly Xvid requires no license fees where as DivX does. I think..... Also, for players like this its handy if the manufacturer keeps them updated via firmware. Mind you, my Yamada player is very reliable and has long since been abandoned by its manufacturer for updates. If this player does play Xvid/ DivX reliably then its a good price. If it were to play x264 files, it would be fantastic, but I doubt it does. Shame..... as it has the HDMI port.

Divx does incur licence fees, no way will it play mkv though.

Not bad but only has scart, 2.1 channel stereo output and no 3 year warranty.

I know what you mean - I bought a skyworth dvd player with divx cheap from WH Smiths years ago - no firmware upgrades ever - and it plays everything I have tried on it. (Obviously not x264)

Having said that surely nowadays manufacturers of stuff like this should include MKV x264 - its the future and the days of divx xvid are limited

Lidl were doing Silvercrest KH6520 or KH6519 for £19.99 in July. Had hdmi, scart, vga, USB, memory card slot all for £19.99. So this is poor value.

Don't recall it being 19.99, these have been £29 for about 18months now. I would have bought a spare for £19.

Dammit my time machine is broken as well

I would be amazed if this didnt play DivX from USB.

I expect the "DivX" branding is removed from the front of the player and box to save £1.50 branding fee.

Can someone who has bought one let us know. I am buying one tonight anyway.

Also can you let us know if it comes with an HDMI lead in the box as some of the ones in the past have.

Did anyone find out whether it plays divx? Also would this work with a 3.5" external hard drive?

I picked on of these badboys up. I'm really pleased with it.

It plays divx through USB no problem

Hi I see you doubt I bought this for £19.99 I have no reason to lie.

I can email or post you the ORIGINAL till receipt.
I bought 2 of them on the 8th of June at 11.17am 007259/03/05 and then again at 01.51pm 007081/03/05 as a 3 year guarantee and DivX from USB for £19.99 is one helluva bargain.
