There has been a lot of people talking about the PS4 slim having no optical out, this solves the problem.

I don't know if it will cause lag and there are plenty more on the market, so if you want a PS4 and optical out, look for one of these.

So not exactly a deal, but a solution for some.

Why would they make the slim without an optical output?!

This this sums up Sony perfectly of late. In no way a Sony hater, in fact I think they did a great job turning the PS3 around during it's later life and the PS4 had a great first couple of years but now I think Sony are letting that success go to their heads a bit. Plus as the consumer electronics side isn't doing well the gaming side has to pull the rest of the company along.

Think they are making a lot of bad decisions that will probably come back to bite them in the behind like raising the price of plus (only in the US I think but will come here soon enough), not including essential parts (like the camera) with Playstation VR, failing to include 4K Bluray in either the Slim or Pro, kind of acceptable in the slim but not in their premium model, the Pro. Just seems a pattern of profit above all else. I know they are a business but they can still provide a great experience while making their money too....

Interesting device; I've never seen one before. I'm curious however if it adds any milliseconds to the signal. Some people would be hesitant to get one if it added just a 60th of a second.

will this work with xbox one s

oh wait

Have the regular non-4k version of this by the same brand, useful if you have a capture card since it strips HDCP so great for streaming. Haven't really noticed any audio or video lag on that one, picture quality seems the same. Sound still comes out the HDMI even if you plug the optical in and the RCA does the same, never tried plugging in RCA+Optical at the same time though and I'm not sure if that's even a good idea. Build quality seems decent on the unit itself.

This is my one of the few cold deals I've posted (errr one of the few deals I've posted).

I am curious ... Am I getting voted down because ...

'its not a deal and this HOTUKDEALS!'?
Is it because its Playstation?

I mean ... I explained it is a guide and I used all the keywords so someone looking for advice on Google or Bing would see it.
(And in following the link will generate revenue and support this site.)

Sure, DuckDuckGo and the likes will take those results and if you are on there, chances are you will already know this ...

But is my information so bad?

Honestly, just curious ... also want to teach my kids so they don't do the same in later life

These usually provide awful sound quality due to them essentially stripping an audio signal from a cable that carries a video signal as well. You would be better off just plugging the headset into your TV with the talkback cable into your controller instead.

I believe that all blue ray players after 2012 can technically play UHD BD with a maximum of 2 layers via a software update.
Yeah I believe that not including a UHD BD is stupid, but I don't think they'll launch the new PS4slim/Pro sans UHD BD drive.

are you high? the hdmi cable is designed to carry a shedload of data which includes audio, video, and other types of data. That optical out on most devices is also a data out port. why would the hdmi audio sound any worse than an optical spdif? yes, the device itself could potentially output terrible audio due to its construction, but hdmi itself wouldnt be to blame.
